Upgraded 2 of my boxes to 8.90.4
and kept almost all settings and installed addons "as is", with a bit of magic.
Had to re-create from scratch the remote config for one of the boxes, but everything's cool, for now.
The only problem remaining is Amazon VOD, Netflix is fine, as good as it gets.

LE creation tool should render the USB bootable.
Alternatively - you can try with Etcher.
What exactly seems to be insufficient for you?
If the kodi folder with all addons is bulging up - relocate it to the SD/TF card.
Format the external storage (SD/TF card) in ext4, make the appropriate directory in it, move the whole kodi folder from internal to the card, then symlink it.
Or, you can play with kodi substitute features - Path substitution

Can't say whether it works on 8.90.4, did not upgrade...
You have to put them in place manually.
Amazon VOD (newer versions) use inputstream helper, which installs these libs in addon_data subfolder and creates symbolic links in cdm...
And for some reason Sandmann's Amazon VOD stopped working (Neflix is OK) for me on all platforms - Win/Lin/LE... Don't have time to debug now...

H96Pro+ nominal operation position by design is NOT like many other "karate" S905/S905X boxes - processor hangs upside down...
In other words - "'eavy's good, 'eavy is reliable." here.
Same here with Philips TV and Denon receiver.
If a box is off, ARC (Audio Return Channel) via HDMI does not work - no sound from TV through the receiver.
Haven't found a solution to this yet, since the TV feed is of little to no interest to me.
Besides - TV is connected to the receiver with another, redundant optical cable, if suddenly someone feels an incredible urge to listen any TV feed on the receiver's speakers...

Looks like CPU fan connector, but it didn't do me any good, powering my type of fans, so - power feed to the fan has been soldered on USB port pins at the breadboard.
Ok, so power via say the TV USB port, will turn off and on, but it only works with one of the USB ports that are hidden? nothing easy here.

I am not using the fan, which comes in the kit, but a smaller heatsink+fan (5V), which fits entirely in the Titan copper heatsink. Costs less than 2 euro.
It's even more effective than TTC kit. And much more silent.
Note that this won't fit neatly inside the H96Pro+ (Alfawise) box (worst thermal designed chinese crap I've seen)...
Use a bit of superglue, in amount of pin head, on four ends of the chip.
In the center - put the proper amount of thermal grease.
If you intend to use the box closed - think of something on the cover to push down the heatsink further.
And drill more holes. Consider using (external) USB fan, attached to one of the box USB ports...
Otherwise - it will be pointless.
