if you have the dtb.img of a working image, it may help.

I have an old S812 box
M8S, MXIII+ ,... ?
All of them produce a box that gets stuck on the boot screen or blank screens.
probably related to the dtb
-
Its my understanding from posts on the kszaq and CE sites that LEIA will not support the older 8## series boxes. Will future LibreELEC for Kodi 18 Leia work with S812 processor?
until now it's works for s802-s812 . kodi19 will not support it for sure (and the s905-s912 if i'm not wrong)
-
hi,
you may check my github.
i've been able to build LE9/Kodi18 from libreelec master for s802/s812 (minix x8/x8-h/x8-hp).
i guess for s805, it's the same process : respect how libreelec is build and find the way to inject your dtb,drivers.

k tks
i will dive into busybox, he's supposed to process the initramfs
-
hi,
in the past i made a fork of balbes 150 works, changed a few things to be able to run libreelec on minix x8-h x8-hp.
i'm now working on a fork of "official" libreelec 9 and everything runs flawlessly except that i can't anymore boot from internal.
it seems that this part in the initramfs isn't correctly evaluated anymore.

anyone has the same kind of trouble?

you have to create a .nocompat file and not a nocompat.zip
ssh the box and type touch /storage/.update/.nocompat
edit: i would try first to boot from SD to check if it's ok or not
-
you're right.
i haven't given enough info.
if i mod the "platform_init" in the project directory , rebuilding the linux package and the initramfs package will not update the "platform_init" in the build directory.

-
hi,
it doesn't seems to be enough ( ./scripts/clean linux & ./scripts/clean initramfs ) as the "initramfs" isn't update in the "build" directory.
Now it's not dramatic but if there's a way to bing modifications to the initramfs without rebuilding the whole stuff, i'm interested.

you may try this one, it may works
libreelec-x8-h_series.arm-8.2rc-kodi_17.6-final.img.gz
more info : Custom ROM - LibreElec 9 Kodi 18 "Leia" | MINIX Forum - Official
don't try leia images : they're specific for the minix X8/X8-H(s802) and X8-HP(s812) => means they don't have a dtb for your device
let me know

Thank you too for the extra infos

Before LE 9.0 , only the short commit hash was used .
But now there's also a SHA-256.
eg :
PKG_NAME="kodi"
PKG_VERSION="af4a548"
PKG_SHA256="17a03bf2e636bb5d4fca08e778147a631edf6a46bd73072473046199cd869d06"
PKG_ARCH="any"
PKG_LICENSE="GPL"
PKG_SITE="http://www.kodi.tv"
PKG_URL="https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/archive/$PKG_VERSION.tar.gz"
PKG_SOURCE_DIR="xbmc-$PKG_VERSION*"
how to get the sha-256?
does i have to download the gz file to get it?
Sorry if this is all been answered but i've been unsuccessful with the "search"

see #1 for commit information
MX3-G 2GB/MX3-Plus 2GBGZ : on requestTar: on requestis there any MXIII plus/g functioning today?
U1 (S905/S905D/S905X/S905W)
As i also own a Minix U1, i also make a img for the S905.
It comes from the standard LibreELEC "Amlogic" project (so kszaq/LibreELEC team works).
All the needed infos are to find here : [8.2.3.1] LibreELEC 8.2 for S905/S905X
GZ/Tar : My Files
info about ir remote : LE9.0 remote configs ir-keytable Amlogic devices

Thanks for the support.

i've very limited linux knowledge so any hint would be great.....

These builds are based on the latest LibreELEC 9 release.
x8-x8h
tar/gz : My Files
x8h-plus
tar/gz : My Files
addons refreshed/latest version (source CoreELEC/LibreELEC)
build for s802/s812 => they are the same no matter you use a X8-X8H (s802) or a X8H-plus(s812)
(FAILED TO BUILD ADDONS: docker game.libretro.mame2016 hyperion hyperion.ng imagedecoder.h eif jre.zulu librespot screensaver.asteroids syncthing visualization.shadertoy visualization.spectrum visualization.waveform)
If you want to give a try, you need to install them from zip.
the fact that it was possible to build them doesn't mean that they're functional.
to be able to shutdown , you need to reflash the box
It has been tested on the X8-H with success.
how to set Kodi in "expert mode"
how to patch the minix bootloader :
- burn the GZ img to a SD
- browse the SD and rename "boot_autoscript" to "boot.scr"
- insert the SD in the minix
- boot the minix while holding reset switch for 5 -6 sec (the bootloader will be patched)
- let Libreelec boots and configure ssh, etc
- restore your cfg if needed
how to "installtointernal" :
- ssh the box and type "installtointernal", follow the instructions
- remove the SD of the box, reboot and enjoy.
not working :
- analog audio via mini-jack
working :
- installtointernal
- auto frame rate switching
- hdmi spdif passthrough
- Minix IR remote
- etc
*****update*****
18.6 :
- extra kodi patches (resolution whitelist version 2)
18.5 :
- DVBs latest included (due to addons refreshed from CoreELEC/LibreELEC source , the DVB modules are to find in CoreELEC drivers in Kodi).
to be able to build the DVB package, some modules have been disabled. Same as above : "the fact that it was possible to build them doesn't mean that they're functional."
18.3 :
- Mac Address fixed (tks Chewitt for the hint)
- some patches taken from Chewitt amlogic-master
- X8-HP : dtb ethernet part reverted
ps : 50 hz fix some issues see LibreELEC 9.X / Kodi 18.X for Minix X8,X8H,X8H+
*****update*****
18.2
*****update*****
18.1 :
- shutdown fixed
- installtointernal execute right fixed
- static ip address fixed for utp lan
- freeze when no adjust refresh rate activated => fixed
- whitelist not needed anymore (kodi 18.1 feature)
to get the best of it :
- you need a tv supporting 24hz/24p and you need to set (in Kodi) "adjust refresh rate" (and have to define a "whitelist")
- about the audio, you will need to try and find the right setting.It depends your tv, amps,.. (with my denon i've been more successful with Amlogic M8-analog but again there're no general rules)
Remarks :
- some users have been able to boot from SD after having reflashed the Minix firmware. (again no general rules, sometimes it depends SD cards, firmware,..
- patching the bootloader may be also tricky
Community tips and tricks :
- Fixed MacAddress : here ( tks to Golden Avatar )
The builds
They're really specific to Minix X8/X8-H/X8-HP.
Means only dtb's for these devices are included.
all credits to kszaq, balbes150 and libreelec team
ps: i just mod/adapt things, i don't pretend to be a dev
remote.conf : Create remote.conf from scratch
kodi 17.6
for the X8-HP users only : test the LibreELEC-X8-H_Series image first, if it doesn't boot from SD , use the LibreELEC-X8-H_PlusGen1
No need to repatch the bootloader if you have already try one of my LE8.9.xx image.
