THe only issue Im having so far is that sometimes the HD audio formats dont play, after switching to a different audio stream and then back to previous, it starts to play. Sometimes I need to repeat this a few times until the audio stream of choice starts to play.
I've been having the same problem.
I have now identified the missing AMLogic Kernel patch that fixes this problem and it's included in the following LE test version:
LibreELEC-S912.arm-8.2.4.2-fix-lost-audio.tar
W.
Have a good read of this thread regarding a very similar issue:
Be aware as well...
If video is encoded with full range - if a log shows yuvj420p (pc, bt709) - there will be no support for that type of encoded video on AMLogic hardware.
AMLogic hardware outputs a YCbCr colorspace, if a TV is configured for RGB Full only you will have likely have issues.
Sony TV's I believe need to be switched into a PC mode to support 444,10bit Chroma and Bit Depth.
(user selectable in Kodi Settings > System > AMLogic)
The only version currently being used is v8.2.4.1 on Page #1 of this thread. The Test version has been withdrawn.
The Mediainfo - metadata file inspector program will show this with problematic Full Range BT709 encoded files:
QuoteColor range : Full
Color primaries : BT.709
Transfer characteristics : BT.709
Matrix coefficients : BT.709

Yes I'm seeing this as well especially when my Soundbar is turned on after Kodi boots. If I reboot LE after the audio receiver is on I get audio.
From that point onwards if Refresh switching is disabled then I have the HD Audio issues described, woking fine if Refresh/Resolution switching is enabled.
I will have to have a good look in the LE / OSMC modded Kernel again to see if something has been missed
More users will just be happy the HDR mode triggered on the TV and they can point at the brighter screen and tell their wives it was in HDR and looks so much better (and thus the purchase of the new UHD HDR TV was justified)
So that's the reason you have a S905D box to go with that OLED TV
Hi,
No Idea about the Vim2. But I doubt it will be as easy to get LE started as just flashing a SD card / USB Stick and then simply holding down the box's power button for 6 seconds or longer to start LE installation.
The U9 (and U1) has the best thermal management out of all the AMLogic devices simply due to it's massive heatsink.
Very handy for GPU Overclocking.
There are U9 sellers that only package the cheap IR remote. No need for the Wireless one if it's not needed.
Harmony remote support:
Minix u9-H Remote setup for Logitech Harmony
I've copied the LE data partition to faster internal U9 eMMC flash storage, makes for a snappier Kodi setup.
And occasionally dual boot to an Android TV ROM for 1080p Netflix, because the U9 has L1 DRM and HDCP 1.x to enable that.

any of you have the same box and had success ? and which image ? i have tried all versions, even coreelec..
Im considering just bying another one of my X96 S905 boxes, since it works fine.
I doubt the bootloader is locked on this device preventing LE booting.
These devices come in 2GB & 3GB RAM variants, so the device trees to use would be:
gxm_q201_2g.dtb
gxm_q201_3g.dtb
Has the Android - Reboot LibreELEC App been used to get LibreELEC initial installation started ?
Projector owners (and other with issues) that can only accept 4:2:2 Chroma inputs pay attention:
4:2:2 Chroma output on LE S905X / S912 device always displayed green screen video output, so you have to use 4:4:4 which is incompatible with a lot of Projectors AND now I find - my Yamaha YSP 2700 soundbar as well.
I've identified it is refresh switching causing the 4:2:2 (and Yamaha 4:4:4) issues, so I've implemented a test LE workaround and that is simply to manually switch OFF Kodi's auto refresh switching which will then result in 4:2:2 video output IF - HDR and Deep color auto switching is enabled.
Switch Adjust Display refresh rate back to Start/Stop and you will get 4:4:4 output again when playing 24p content.
The Chroma and 10 bit depth option has now been moved from the System > AMLogic menu to
Player > Videos > HDR & Deep color autoswitching
Pls read the updates notes at the bottom of the settings screen for that new option.
You will also have to hard select a 2160p resolution for 4:2:2 usage because once refresh switching is turned OFF, that also disables auto resolution switching 1080p <<--->> 2160p
This is a LE 8.2.4.1 test version for those with 4:2:2 & 4:4:4 Chroma problems...until the 4:2:2 switching bug in the Kernel is fixed.
EDIT: test releases withdrawn due to 4:2:2 10bit confirmed to NOT be working according to wesk05 testing.
Are you using the standard Estuary Kodi Krypton Skin ?
Everything goes pear shaped when attempting to load Skin settings.
Quote23:45:06.009 T:3833590624 WARNING: CSkinInfo: failed to load skin settings
it's a bad decision in my opinion. the cpu runs in power mode all the time, which means more heat and more power usage - not really energy efficient now
Hint - the patch in question, patches CPUInfo in Kodi - it Does Not patch the Kernel, only what Kodi reads from the Linux Kernel which is the Maximum CPU MHz the SoC is capable of.
You can still get the current CPU Freq with:
Believe me when I tell you there is NO bug.
back to 8.2.4-Subtitles-ff and cpu scale down does work again. so it's confirmed it's a problem with the new build.
does 8.2.4.1 use a new kernel?
It's not a problem and is functioning exactly how Kodi was Patched to operate to avoid user confusion:
I not sure if users are aware but Long Pressing the Middle OK/Android button is used for Kodi Context Menu functionality with the MINIX A2 lite remote. It's likely the same for the A3.
Works well.
Not to duplicate posts, please read my posts from here and here.
The same behaviour, ie the files don't play with hardware decoding on your version also.
Any additional info I can provide to resolve this "problem"
Honestly no idea.
I've got a 4K HDR 10bit Interstellar REMUX I've been testing and it has no problems with playback.
It's very likely the video encoding settings used. Which I know very little about.
Question. I don't find the option color range limited (16-235) in the menus. Was it removed? At what range this build is outputting? I feel like it is (16-235) and not FULL. Colors look very washed out and my old Intel Nuc Libreelec didn't look this washed out on the same TV.
You need to recalibrate / reset your TV's settings.
AMLogic hardware by default outputs using YCbCr colorspace not RGB.
There is no Limited or Full RGB settings for AML LE Kodi.
On a side note the PR you made to CE was only blocked and not rejected, given it is quite a significant change I do believe it needs more testing as past experience has made me cautious with experimental changes due to the backlash I received when things go wrong so I'm interested to see the feedback it gets in your build, I'm very grateful for the PR and hope we can work closer in the future anyway.
The PR was only submitted to fix Subtitles on S912's anyway so it's no big deal if it gets rejected anyway. Makes for a bit of Dev discussion about various things which is always good.
It really is not needed for other Chipsets.
When i get time I will amend the PR so it's specifically S912 only.
You want the the Gigabit - gxm_q200_3g.dtb and then rename it to dtb.img and save to the SD card:
Found in this folder:
There is no HDR to SDR conversion support in the AMLogic S905's Video Engine.
There is no HDR to SDR conversion support in AMLogic LE software either. And definitely none in Android on S905's.
You have to use latter S905X, S905D or S912 chipsets. Even then conversion is not really that good vs proper HDR.
Ultimate solution buy a 4K HDR TV and compatible 4K HDR media player.
Harmony remotes can be reprogrammed to be MCE remotes and they definitely work in LE Kodi Krypton.
