2GB S905x - MECOOL M8S Pro + device tree extracted from Android 7.1 Nougat Firmware:

    dtb.img

Works with @kszaq's LE 8.2 (Nougat Kernel)

HDMI-CEC works with my 4K TV.

Linux WiFi drivers not available for this M8S Pro Plus and BT not working either. IR remote I have yet to get working in LE.

But you do get Android Widevine Level 1 and HDCP 1.x with this box for working 1080p Android TV Netflix and other Android Apps that need DRM video streaming copy protection.

Bootloader and Kernel locked down on the Xiaomi Mi Box with SELinux - so its a no go for LibreELEC on the Mi Box.

Pity as its a cheap quality device otherwise - excellent AC WiFi.

What I can do however is use the excellent Mi Box BT wireless remote for Android TV ROM use on the Hub / Play2.

Would be an excellent BT remote for LibreELEC if I could get it up and running too.

Suggest a Firmware update & Factory Reset if any Android box is crashing with as many problems as described above.

Not currently. This is something that may improve over time. On these devices, netflix and amazon aren't hardware accelerated.

A word of warning for those contemplating the purchase of AML S912 boxes for LibreELEC - going forward into Kodi Leia & using DRM Netflix and Amazon Video.

Because of the hacky GPU video drivers used with LE/AML S912, any Software decoding which is needed for Netflix and Amazon Video will have stuttering playback and picture tearing. This is something that is not going to improve if using this S912 combo - there is not even a solution on the horizon.

I too use DVB-T in Australia (Perth) - quite a lot actually.

For me TvHeadend v4.0.9 & v4.2 works with both the tuner in the WeTek Play2 and the PS3 Dual DVB-T Tuner.

I bet you are in Victoria - where for some reason people have been having LibreELEC DVB-T issues.

It comes with Android 7.1.1. The producer claims that the Kodi version is optimized for the S912. Is that even possible? Or does some producers get the source from Amlogic?

Sounds like complete Seller Bullshit to us.

LibreELEC is the most optimised bug busted Kodi you are going to get.

The AMLogic specific LibreELEC Kodi codebase is at least one generation ahead of where Android Kodi Krypton is, plus there are optimised Linux Kernel patches that improve on video decoding and playback Sync - something AMLogic Android Boxes can only dream about - even the shiny new ones.

He simply hasn't got a chip which LE supports. His box is not a true S905 MXQ.

There are deceptive sellers sending out supposed S905 MXQ NEXBOX Pro 4 K - but they are in fact old $20 RK3299 boxes that LibreELEC does not support. This has happened to quite a few users now across a bunch of different forums.

I would advise those looking NOT to buy S905 MXQ NEXBOX Pro 4 K boxes - because the chances are you will be sent the wrong device.

Considering it's really Android 6.0, I suspect you might have RK3229, which is not that bad, but not good either.

There is a bunch of user feedback I now see across various forums - detailing how deceptive sellers are supposedly selling MXQ Pro AML S905 boxes - and then sending out inferior dirt cheap (MXR) RK3299 devices. We may have to start a name and shame thread for sellers to avoid - just the Website name and seller/store name.

frame skipping became better, but still big

audio is still not sync with video for AC3 liveTV channel

Working fine for me with DVB-T, even for AC3 passthrough. I'm using an external TvHeadend server.

I don't intend to bug bust anything to do with running USB tuners or Kodi Addons - that is not the purpose of John's thread here.

It's all about 10bit HDR video playback and dithering & picture quality.

As mentioned above there is an audio sync problem for liveTV with AC3 sound and also picture freezes and big frameskips seen for this type of channels.

Try this version, slightly tweaked for the the correct Fractional flag in platform_init

    LibreELEC-S912.arm-9.0-9.0.0.Nougat-3.14.v10.iptv.simple.tar

I have likely forgotten this as well, put it in /storage/.config/autostart.sh

    Code
    echo 4 > /sys/module/amvdec_h264/parameters/dec_control

Traced my H264 live TV problems over to a failing SD card on my TvHeadend server. All sorts of AML SD card errors in the dmesg - kernel log.

wrxtasy, I'm curious about the S912 Nougat build you posted #383. Do you have a thread running somewhere that I can read through? I currently have a 2G8G Beeling GT1 running Kszaq's S912 build.

I don't intend to provide a support thread. This releases are pretty much "as is" to test out any of @JG's Nougat Kernel merges.

One thing I have noticed is Kodi Leia has fixed the slight video stutter that AML Krypton had when pulling up an On Screen Display.

It appears a few other skipping/navigating around video bugs got squashed as well.

I need the fractional frame rate patch, otherwise there are the regular interval frame skips. After flashing the initial build, I tried watching a whole 23.976fps movie, but was getting the standard regular interval skips due to kernel not having fractional policy set.

Yes I have changed my mind now I watched a movie last night with lots of video panning that properly shows skips and re-introduced the Fractional support too. Nice and smooth now !

My TV does a good job of hiding skips with it's motion smoothing, its all a bit deceptive.

Standard password doesn't work after update to this version and pvr IPTV Simple Client from repo above not compatible.

wrxtasy, did you change ssh password in this build?

Yes - I get really really really sick of typing libreelec - all the time and use the Password - le - instead.

If you run into issues just install one of Raybuntu's LE 9.x Addons - install from .zip:

    rb-addons/addons/9.0/Odroid_C2/arm at master · Raybuntu/rb-addons · GitHub

I might re-add RB's Repo back in again.

A le9-testing2 build has been uploaded. This fixes fresh installs, fixes fractional frame rates, and includes two VideoPlayer patches by afl1 (lateframes and channel/chapter skip fix).

For LE9.x - Kodi Leia - I would advise to start from a pretty clean slate.

So Nuke lateframes, channel skip, fractional frame rates - all of them. I have found they are not needed at all for smooth video playback.

TvHeadend TV channel switching is now the best I've ever seen it with the very latest pvr.hts & Leia master with the above patches removed:

    LibreELEC-S912.arm-9.0-9.0.0.Nougat-3.14.v8.tar

    pvr.hts-999.4.0.17.2.zip
