how big is a difference moving addons data to internal ?
To be honest, I did not notice much difference. Maybe fanarts were loading faster but I'm not even sure about that.

Working fine in this example! And that's one of the problems. It does not ALWAYS stutter, but when it starts it gets really annoying. The fact that stuttering is a problem has been established in the thread dropped frames caused by subtitle rendering and the devs are not too optimistic, that it will ever go away completely for the 912.
But the fine people who work for us in their spare time are still at it and maybe/hopefully they succeed. When they do we will know and praise them even more!
And now I'll fire up my minix and update to 8.90.7-K
Really? You buy new boxes because of that? It's not hardware issue. It's purely software. It will be fixed. You'll see.
Patience was never one of my virtues
...try to stall time while trying to find an alternative S905x box that can play 4k hdr with auto switch features like this Minix without the need of extra cooling but fail to find any so far. Fact is the Minix U9 is really a nice piece of hardware
I wish the stuttering could somehow solved
I'll try my luck with a Vero 4k (the only disadvantage I see so far is the missing GB-Ethernet) - I'll let you know how it works out...
To conclude my experiences with my Minix U9-H
720p/25fps (AVC) - external subtitles = no stuttering (maybe 1 or 2 stutters per 60 minute episode maximum)
1080p/24fps (AVC) - external subtitles = stuttering (usually at least 1 dropped frame when new subtitles appear and 1 dropped frame when they disappear)
1080p/24fps (AVC) - internal subtitles = stuttering (same as above)
4k/24fps (HEVC) - internal subtitles = stuttering (same as above)
4k/24fps (HEVC) - external subtitles = stuttering (same as above)
The good news: All of the above examples show no stuttering when subtitles are disabled
The stuttering is not always equally bad or noticeable. You won't notice it as much in dialogue pieces, but in action sequences it's sometimes really annoying. Maybe I'm just to sensitive...
@ afl1/kszaq what about the fact that the stuttering is gone as long you have the advanced codecinfo on sreen ?
While I can't confirm this (yet - I'll have to try it again at home) I came across something strange yesterday evening. I was watching two episodes of a tv series (BBC production) with 25fps. No stuttering at all with external subtitles enabled.
Is this the image that you used rito on your SD card?
this image: LibreELEC-S912.arm-8.2-8.2.1.1.img.gz
no, that's another one. This one was working for me: dtb.img
That's really a pity - everything works perfect on the the Minix U9-H - wonder where to go next for 4k/HDR...
I’m also using a Minix U9 and am wondering how to do the update to newer versions correctly.
I’m used to putting the tar file in .update and reboot, but after it does the upgrade, it cannot boot LE anymore.
So I Write the img.gz to a USB drive (and the 2g dtb as dtb.img) and install over my current installation.
How can directly upgrade without USB? Do i need to put the device tree somewhere as well?
I may have done it wrong, but on my Minix U9-H the update (copy the .tar file to the update directory and just restart LE) and reboot worked without any problems with this (old) device tree
More about the device tree in this thread
please tell me
on this version works samba and hdr?
Thank you
HDR was working great (at least my TV "said" it was an HDR-signal and it looked like HDR)!
Did not try samba as I'm using NFS
Hi afl1!
Just tried the new version on a Minix U9-H - working quite good for a pre-alpha (actually, I had no problems at all), but the stuttering is still here (I tried it with an mkv-file with embedded subs) - debug log is here
I only played around for a short while, but I noticed no stuttering with external subs.
Thanks for your efforts and your work!!!!
I am preparing LE 8.90.6 for S912.
Thanks that's very nice! Will test it for sure!!
I'm more or less in the same position as c_g_f - new Minix U9-H arrived yesterday. It is working at least as good as Pi3, Odroid or Wetek with the added bonus of HDR. I'm really impressed.
I never really noticed the subtitles/dropped frames problem with .srt-files on the other boxes, but on the Minix U9 you cannot help but see it. And it definitely is connected with the subtitles, because with subtitles disabled there are no dropped frames. Did not try it with PGS, because I avoid them (they are too huge and distracting for me)
If there's anything I can do to help - sorry, I'm no developer - just let me/us know-
Success!
With the device tree from wrxtasy - dtb.img - the U9 boots into LE without any problems - directly from SD card!!
I tried to flash with Rufus and Etcher (both never made any trouble with LE before).
I used this device tree: gxm_q200_2g.dtb
and this image: LibreELEC-S912.arm-8.2-8.2.1.1.img.gz
Hi kszaq, been using your work on a box for the past month and have to say awesome work and much appreciated! Been experimenting a lot between the latest Jarvis build and this krypton one. In the krypton build, getting frame skips on 23.976 fps content. While looking at the codecinfo (ctrl+shift+o) while video is playing and it's reporting visible frame skips and I notice the pullup correction pc: is switching between 1 and none.On the jarvis build, pc: stays at none and no frame skips are happening. In both cases refresh rate switching is enabled. Wondering if I'm the only one with this issue?
No, you are not. But the good news is, that the Krypton builds are getting better and better. The situation was much worse before Christmas.
I think we will still need a little patience until Amlogic boxes work as good as Pis, but there are good people working in their spare time to make our experience better. Thanks for all your efforts, BTW!!!
Thank you very much for your very very useful answer. But I forget to add that I can not use search, I don't know why.
If I try to search something I get this error:Sorry, but you can only perform one search every 35 seconds. Please wait another 15 seconds before attempting to search again.
But I don't try to search so often. I get this error even for first try.
You can start scripts from the keymaps.xml. f.i. if you want to start/stop hyperiond with the blue button:
<b>System.Exec("/storage/.kodi/userdata/hyperion_switch.sh")</b>
so, System.Exec is the command you are looking for
