RbPi3+ Hifiberry digi+ ac3 file issues

    Hi All,

    I searched the forum but nothing came up. So here is my issue.

    I am making an audio work for an upcoming show and thought using a rbp3 and digi would be the best solution as I need to use an optical out.

    I have a Rbp3,Hifiberry digi standard and the latest librelec. I have sent my ac3 audio via Putty and WinSCP to the SD card all with no problems, I enabled pass-through and my board sees the Digi. When I attempt to play my ac3 file the system just hangs there for 20+ seconds..eventually un-freezing but still not playing anything. I cannot for the life of me figure out why playing a simple ac3 is making everything stop in it's tracks....am I missing something? I have made an error log if someone might see something obvious in this...

    I tried a normal .ac3 file on my RPi2 with hifiberry-digi and it worked without issue.

    I also tried your file on a standard LE system (IMX6) with passthrough and it played without issue.

    I can try your file on my RPi2 tomorrow and see if there are any problems.

    Can you check that the file on your RPi3 is the same size as the original. I would also try FTP to transfer the file across again as if the file is corrupted on the RPi3 then that could be your problem.

    I also see you have opened a ticket with Hifiberry concerning playing this file with VLC. (It plays perfectly on Ubuntu with VLC)

    The file is the same yes, I have tried it via usb key and ssh ... both seem to transfer with no isssues, just playback is the problem. Yes I have also tried VLC on raspberrian with no luck getting it to work with the hifiberry digi, so reverted to a straight install of openelec and then to libreelec, with similar problems...which is where I am now..At this point I am thinking it might just be a board issue but have no way to trouble that without ordering another one.

    File plays perfectly via hifiberry-digi via s/pdif (toslink).

    I would try seeing if you get any sound out of the headphone socket. I would also check that the board is installed properly - it's easy to get it misaligned by one pin.

    To eliminate any ac3 problems, try a standard mp3 file and see if that is the same. If still no joy, it does sound like a board issue.
