Input method: Japanese

  • How do I switch the input methode to Japanese?

In the settings there is a way to modify the keyboard layouts (e.g. QWERTZ for German). And Korean and Chinese is there available, too. But I don't look for another (onscreen) keyboard layout. I am looking for an input methode where I can produce Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji. In Windows it is called IME and in Linux Anthy.

LE settings will list what's supported by the graphics stack. Xorg is full featured whereas devices that run on the framebuffer (e.g. RPi) have a limited set of keyboard options.

  • Your answer doesn't fit my question. You talk about graphics/Xorg what means the display language. This is not the problems. Unicode characters are displayed without problems.

But I want to use them in on-board keyboard, too.

I opened another thread with a more specific question.
