LibreELEC 8.0.2 on Intel Atom HTPC

  • Hi Guys,

    I have installed LibreELEC 8.0.2 on my HTPC Intel Atom (1.6Ghz 64bit) PC with 4GB RAM. Plays 1080p video just fine, but buffers a lot for 4K videos. I am playing 4K videos from local network storage.

    I have created advancedsettings.XML also as below:

    <advancedsettings>

    <cache>

    <buffermode>1</buffermode>

    <memorysize>278921216</memorysize>

    <readfactor>20</readfactor>

    </cache>

    </advancedsettings>

    My Sony Android TV on the same network, plays the same 4K video just fine.

    I have attached picture of my BIOS giving details of CPU and RAM.

    Kindly help me to resolve this issue.

    I know of Intel Atom 330 machines with and without Nvidia Graphics. Both will have plenty of troubles of displaying anything over 1080p.

    I think you are overstretching your Atom box way too much. It's a device created in a time when 4K was not even invented.

    The fact that your TV plays 4K just fine, does not mean that your Atom box automatically has the same video playing capabilities.

  • Thanks Klojum for your reply.

    I was also thinking the same but was not sure. I purchased this Atom HTPC with Nvidia Graphics about 5 years back. I guess it is time for upgrade.
