I'm thinking about getting a pci wifi adapter for my system instead of using a usb dongle my question is will it be reconised by Libreelec or should I just stick to the usb dongle? I'm having a few issues with the dongle dropping connection every now and then.

Most devices probably work (or support can be added easily) but unless you tell us the actual chipset used by the card it's not possible to provide a definitive answer.

Ok thanks, I hadn't looked up the chipset for the card but now that I have I think I will forget about it as people have experienced bad drop outs using it with linux. I'll keep looking around, don't want to spend to much

Adding drivers yourself involves compiling your own build of LibreELEC via Github sources.

Just one question: when i can choose, select or put the driver that i need?
