Orange pi plus 2E / Kodi17

Can someboby tell me if i'm wasting my time to try and find an image which will work on the opiplus2E and has kodi 17 in it ?
the only thing i can find is an image with Kodi 16.1

There is no official build for the Orange Pi. And for all I know, there is also no LibreELEC/Kodi 17 build among the immediate community builds.

So I would stick to the 16.1 build, wherever you got that from.

No current support and those devices are not on our radar. You'll find that anything using an Allwinner chipset isn't so popular among FOSS developers due to that companies poor documentation and software support (although that's nothing unique) and history of GPL violations. Someone was making OE builds for the older models (which I guess you found) but I'm not aware of anyone doing LE builds.

From what we understand those images are a "greatest hits" of hacky patches previously created for OE builds respun as an LE image. They are nothing to do with us. Proper support for some Allwinner chipsets is now being worked on, see recent blog posts on our website.
