Zero-w Bluetooth Audio

  • I am running Libre Elec on a RPi Zero W with the new 8.0.0.1 image.

Worked first time and I am busy configuring it.

One thing I would like to do is stream audio from my iPhone to Kodi.

    Enabled Bluetooth
    Enabled Airplay
    Paired phone and Kodi

If I play audio on my iPhone it connects to the RPi Zero w and behaves as if it is connected to a Bluetooth speaker.
However I hear no audio from Kodi - what have I missed, how do I get this to work?

The plan is to have a build a Kodi music box/Bluetooth speaker in an old 1950s radio cabinet

  • Pulseaudio - LibreELEC

^^ You need to (re)configure Pulseaudio to receive audio and output via alsa (not via Kodi, it all happens in the OS layer underneath). In the default configuration Kodi will only send via BT to speakers, not receive.

    Yes, it's a sucky arrangement.

As yet I have not manages to get that to work.

I am testing with just the RPi Zero W and taking audio through the HDMI into my monitor. When I list the sinks (pactl list short sinks) it returns auto_null.

I have ordered a DAC so I am hoping when I fit that it will list the DAC as a sink.
