v7.9.53 "Connection timed out" when accesing SMB share on Raspberry Pi [updated]

Hi everyone,

I'd like to report a bug on both versions v7.9.52 and v7.9.53.

Symptoms:
When trying to access SMB share (smb://WORKGROUP/) from either "add video..." or File Explorer, after loading (approx. 1min) I get "Connection timed out" error. I reproduced this error on both Raspberry Pi 1 B+ and Pi 3. This doesn't work right after initial install.

Prove that my HW/network is not at fault:
- I confirmed the samba access is working fine on stable v7.0.3.
- Both versions v7.9.52 and v7.9.53 also work fine on X86.

Not sure if this is Kodi or LibreElec related bug.

Is no one using Libreelec with NAS as all of them must be affected or waiting for stable release?

I have no such issues here with Samba. Using RPi3, LE 7.95.2. Windows 10 PC as NAS.

That was just ONE day ago!!

You didn't explain if you had upgraded or a fresh install?

I know there was an issue earlier with SMB, so either remove the source and add it again or use explicit paths like smb:/192.168.0.xx rather than smb://<server>

Thanks for the feedback, it's good to know that SMB is working for someone using Rpi it is strange that I even can't start browsing the Samba network.

It is a fresh default Install, img was written to the SD using win32diskimager. After running the initial configurator (I left all the settings in default, including DHCP settings) when I try to add a source or simply trying to access anything on the SMB network (starting with WORKGROUP) after loading I get this error every time.
Another thing, while SMB cannot be access from the Kodi interface, from any other PC on the network I can ping and I can browse through LE's shares, so that proves my network is fine. Previously (when I upgraded from 7.0.3 to 7.95.2) I had a MySQL configured in AdvancedSettings.xml. While I could not access any files on the shares, I could see all my movies loaded from MySQL database which again proves Rpi can see the network.
This was tested on Rpi3 and Rpi1 (different SD cards in each case) with both fresh installs of LE 7.95.2 and LE 7.95.3.

When I load stable LE 7.0.3 (with older Kodi 16) onto the same devices, again, left initial config in default, tested and works straight away... Less then a second and I can access everything I need.

I have tried LE 7.95.2 and LE 7.95.3 on my HTPC PC X64 (Intel Atom 1.6GHz). Both versions work fine on exactly the same network using the same NAS (FreeNAS btw). So I know it's not my network, it's not a config (fresh install) and it's not the device. Everything is pointing to LE, but I'm clueless what it could be. Anything on the Samba network is inaccessible and times out whether I point a IP and path or whenever I try to browse through the network.

I'm wondering if anything has changed regarding samba client since 7.0.3. I tried to to play with "local master = no" to no avail, I'm still getting the error.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same problem on my Raspberry Pi 2 after the upgrade to 7.95.3.

That problem was also on my Odorid C2 (since verison v7.90.008).

All,

I just made a discovery that when you upgrade LE from 7.0.3 to 7.95.3 on Raspberry Pi, it works fine. That's why not many people reported the issue I believe.

The problem is there only with fresh install.

As already reported by me, on the Raspberry Pi 2 the problem happens after upgrade from version 7.95.2 to version 7.95.3.

Hmmm... What happens when you revert back to 7.95.2? Will it work then?
