Hello,
new here
but use Kodi since mabye 10 years now.
I recently purchased a Canton Smart Connect to setup a 3.0 home cinema system.
After testing it from my computer I set it up on my RPI.
I've a rPI5 in an enclosed Argon One V5 box. Very efficient cooling system!
Run kodi from LibreElec.
I connected the RPI5 from the HDMI2 to one of the input HDMI of the canton and connected a screen to the output HDMI of the Canton.
first weird behaviour, Kodi lists 2 audio sources, I select the one where I see Canton properly which is from the HDMI 2.
I play a video from ARTE using the ADD-ON to have a the sound I have to shutdown the CANTON and turn it on again. Sound is here no issue after.
If I want to watch a movie like a MKV file, the video plays 5 second and freeze. I cannot watch any mkv movies. I have not tested any other format but I remember it was working fine when I didn't have the Canton.
"For local files (MKV), Kodi's internal player (DVDPlayer) attempts to maintain audio/video synchronization across the hardware pipeline. When the device disappears and then reappears, the stream becomes desynchronized, causing playback to stop after a few seconds. Streaming add-ons like ARTE handle network streams and buffering differently, which explains why they do not experience this freeze."
Good or not I asked some workaround from AI, the AI suggested to edit the EDID store it and load it from the init at the boot.
Created an EDID bin file under /storage/.config/firmware/edid/edid.bin
cd /storage
mkdir -p cpio/lib/firmware/edid
cp .config/firmware/edid/edid.bin cpio/lib/firmware/edid/
cd cpio
find . -print | cpio -ov -H newc > /flash/edid.cpio
cd ~
rm -rf /storage/cpio
Edited the cmdline.txt under flash/cmdline.txt (at the end of the unique row).
drm.edid_firmware=HDMI-A-2:edid/edid.bin video=HDMI-A-2:D
Edited the config.txt /flash/config.txt to add the below row at the end
initramfs edid.cpio
Any suggestion to force kodi to use the CANTON and allow me to watch MKV files are welcome.
