Rock64, Rockchip RK3328, passthrough

  • To introduce myself: I´m using libreelec and the device mentioned above for several years. It was a things which ran flawlessly during that period. Recently I made an update to V12. The setup ist that Kodi acts like a mediacenter, video ist send via HDMI to the TV an digital audio via SPDF (optical) to the AV-Receiver.

Now I recognised, that there no "passthrough" option in the audio settings anymore.

Of course I read about this problem and found out, that passthrough was deactivated Versions ago for Rockchips. Some members suggest to change settings in the guisettigs.xml which doesn´`'t work (anymore?).

Now my question: Is there any workaround I missed or are there any plans to reactivte this option? Otherwise my (old fashioned) setup will not work anymore.

    Thanks in advance!

  • I'm new to the world of Rockchip and unaware of past changes and workings, but PT is not working with any of the newer boards I have and unhiding the option via appliance.xml doesn't achieve anything.

For my knowledge, was the previous version an official LE release or a homebrew community image? .. and what version?

  • LE9.0 used the Rockchip Linux 4.4 vendor kernel and we've since switched to the upstream kernel.

I've added an item to my list to investigate further but the latest vendor kernel (Linux 6.6 + mountains of patches) lags so far behind the upstream kernel (Linux 6.18) the differences are huge and playing "spot the difference" isn't fruitful, and that's before you factor in the general impenetrable-ness of kernel audio things.

    In short, no promises.
