[S905X] Can`'t install beyond 9.2.8 in a generic S905X tv box

Hi,

I have a generic S905X tv box (Giga TV HD870 4K) working with LE 9.2.8, installed in internal memory with installtointernal command, when I boot from a USB with newer version, and try to install to internal with emmctool command it show "Your device is not supported!" error. How can I update LE instalation?.

TL/DR: You either stick with the old install on eMMC, or boot something newer from an SD card.

OK, there isn't any way to install a newer version then? So, is it worth booting LE version 12 from an SD card than booting LE version 9 from the faster internal memory on a generic S905X?

Modern SD cards are only marginally slower than eMMC storage chips from 2014. You should also experiment and see if the AMLGX image, which is not as fully-featured as older vendor kernel images, works for you. For a good number of people it does, but it's not for everyone.
