LibreELEC on GMKtek G3 Plus (Intel N150)

  • I recently got G3 Plus just to run Kodi and it's well. Then I saw video on YouTube about LibreELEC and tried it but I'm having this issue https://imgur.com/a/qXdFWKP during the installation. I'm not a techie person so I don't know what it is. I just wondering if it's a hardware compatibility issue? Can I run LibreELEC on this devive?

    Thank you

  • The "Failed to start Xorg" message implies you are using the Generic-Legacy image? - Unless the message needs to be updated. You should be using the 'Generic' (non-Legacy) image. If you are, AlderLake GPUs should be supported in the LE12 and LE13 kernels and you need to share the system log from the device so we can see more about the boot process. Although Kodi hasn't started the rest of the OS will be functional so Samba is running and accessing the Logfiles SMB share will generate a log zip file. Or you can modify kernel boot params in syslinux.cfg to add 'ssh' which forces the SSH service to start on boot so you can login.

  • Got it! I use RunAddon(service.libeelec.settings).

Is it safe to use built-in kodi commands (Powerdown) to shutdown the device? Thank you.

My bad. I thought the latest nightly build was at the top. Lol... The latest nightly generic version is working. Thank you.

I'm currently using Artic Fuse 2 skin and wanted to replace the settings shortcut with LibreELEC menu. What I should enter in action shortcut to do that?

  • Is there a way to show hidden folders in SMB? Sometimes I edit add-ons name with extra font modification, like adding multiple colors etc. It is much easier to do that using X-plore File Manager in my android phone.

  • If a file is marked hidden in the remote filesystem, it's up to the client (app/OS, etc.) browsing the remote filesystem (over CIFS/SMB) to show the hidden files. It's not a server side configuration.

Alright. I'm just use to do that on my Zidoo Z9X where I have access in kodi "/addons/" folder. Thank you.

  • I also bought a gmktek g3+ n150.

I got Le13 nightly working but not LE12 Nightly.

They suppossed to have same kernel (drivers). but LE12 nightly hangs on logo at startup.

LE13 not al used addons are working.

  • Looks like TMDb Helper + Kodi 22 issue still doesn't fix. So far I'm happy with the performance of LibreELEC on this device. Wish that there is shutdown animation and not just freeze while waiting to shutdown.

  • Is there a way to make this Ugreen BT 5.4 USB Adapter to work? I have this BT remote but everytime I move like 2 meters away from mini PC, it doesn't work properly anymore. So i got this BT adapter from Ugreen and it work well on Windows...

  • Hello,

Going back to the original subject; I just unpacked a new GMTEK G3 (w N100) and much to my surprise I got the ‘Unsupported GPU’ error.

I am still using Kodi Matrix…. Is there an LE Matrix version that has a supporting kernel? Anything I can do to make it work on Matrix?

I cannot fathom an upgrade with my highly modified Auramod skin and all the addons.

    Thank you.

No, but you can self-build an image with a newer kernel and related kernel and intel firmware packages. There are instructions for self-building in the wiki, although it won't give you explicit directions on how to go around bumping packages. There's lots of prior art for that in the buildysystem though, so a little initiative and curiosity should get you over the line.

Plan B .. time to fathom the overly modified skin.

Thank you…. I saw there is a release of the skin compatible w Omega. Upgrading seems to be a more constructive path that trying to learn about bumping packages and builsdystems.

Would you recomen upgrading Matrix direct to Omega; or going thru Nexus and then Omega?

Luckily I have a couple of Nucs and drives that I can restore and test via Clonezilla saved images.

    Thanks again for the motivation.
