After LE12 upgrade, an old database appeared

  • Hi,

today I upgraded from LE11 to LE12, and an old database appeared from March this year. I think I know what happened :) In March I upgraded to a nightly build of LE12, but when I realised that I in fact didn't download a stable build, I went back to LE11 stable.

Now that I really upgraded to LE12, that old, converted database showed up from March, and I lost all my series progresses since then.

Is there any way to manually convert the "actual" database (that was used by LE11 until yesterday) and use that, instead of the current one?

    Thanks in advance :)

  • Oh, I'm on a Raspberry Pi 3B+, and I'm talking about the movies and television series database of Kodi. I believed the system asked me if I want to upgrade it, when I installed the nightly build in March, but I can't remember well.

No big deal though, I was just curious if it is possible to lose the previously upgraded DB from the nightly, and create a new one. (I hope my assumptions are right about the process.)

  • First stop kodi (using systemctl stop kodi), then navigate to /storage/.kodi/userdata/Database/ and delete all MyVideosXXX.db / MyMusicXXX.db, ... files with newer versions than the one from LE11 / Kodi Nexus - you may also delete the older database versions and only keep the Nexus ones to save some space.

You can find a list of the database version numbers here: https://kodi.wiki/view/Databases

So keep MyVideos121.db, MyMusic82.db (those are the LE11/Nexus versions), then after the next reboot kodi will migrate those to the newer Kodi Omega versions and you get your state before the LE12 update back.

BTW: It's always a good idea to backup / copy the files somewhere else before permanently deleting them in case you make a mistake

    so long,

    Hias

  • Thanks, I was looking for this exact info, I'll try it tomorrow!

I have backup of everything, so there shouldn't be any problem.

Thank you again for you time answering me, I appreciate it!
