NTP not working on LibreELEC 11.0.3 on RPi4

  • I had been running LibreELEC / Kodi on RPi3 for years with no issues. Decided to upgrade RPi to RPi4. Installed LibreELEC RPi4 Arm 11.0.3. Everything works except the clock is not being set. I added NTP servers, but that did not help. I can SSH and set date/time, but it drifts and is lost across reboot.

Previous post #8419 was closed. I had asked about posting logs and was told that was broken and I should open another case about NTP only. So, here it is.

What info do you need me to capture and upload? also, what format do you want for uploaded file?

  • The first move is to update to a current LE12 nightly and retest to see if your problem is resolved among the newer 'everything' in the master codebase. The releases are stable for use for a while, we're only waiting on Kodi to call RC1 before shipping a formal LE12 beta release.

  • I updated to 11.0.3 and that did not fix my problems. Then I got sidetracked.

I have now added a real time clock to my Rpi4. Adafruit DS1307. RTC seems to be working, but Kodi shows wrong time. It seems to think hardware clock is UTC.

    LibreELEC (official): 11.0.3 (RPi4.arm)
    LibreELEC:~ # hwclock -r
    Thu Sep 5 16:51:27 2024 0.000000 seconds
    LibreELEC:~ # date
    Thu Sep 5 11:51:33 CDT 2024
    LibreELEC:~ #

    16:15 CDT is correct.

My timezone is set to Chicago

  • I have been avoiding upgrading to latest version since it is a lot of work. I am using my Kodi as a DVR for Over The Air TV. But, I guess I'll just bite the bullet and start working on the latest LibreElec for Raspberry Pi.

    Unless someone has another solution?

  • I updated to LibreELEC 12.0.1 Real Time clock seems to be working. Am not sure about NTP, but I'm happy with Real Time Clock. Lots to configure, but I'll close this item, if I can figure it out.

    Thanks for the help.

  • LibreELEC version 12.0.1 cannot find all the OTA TV channels. After several days of trying, I gave up and went back to 11.0.3. I was able to get the real time clock working in 11, so it is usable again.

I would like to upgrade to version 12, but I need to be able to export channel data from version 11 and then import to version 12. all my searches have found several ways supposedly to do this, but none work.

Also, can anyone tell me how to import new certificate into my version 11 so I can install add-ons?

    thanks

  • Got NTP working, But never got all TV channels to show up on latest version of LibreELEC/Kodi. So, I gave up and removed all the TV related add-ons and purchased a Tubo. I'm just too old (76) to fight with software any more. :(

All Is good with my Kodi now. Using it as a media server. Which was always its main function.

    thanks for the help :)
