LE11 Generic - Audio stuttering

  • Hi.

    My Problem:

While playing a video or LiveTV, the Audio is stuttering in irregular intervals, while the video looks fine.

Stuttering: The audio doesn't sound weird, it just mutes on and off stuttering for a few seconds every few minutes.

    My Hardware:

    • Asrock Beebox i5 7200u | 64GB SSD | 8GB RAM
    • USB-Soundcard: Creative Sound Blaster Play! 2
    • USB HDMI-CEC PulseEight Adapter
    • HDMI1: WimaxIT 14" FullHD
    • HDMI2: Samsung 50" TV (with CEC-Adapter)

I didn't use it for some time, so i don't exactly know when it worked the last time.

The problem occures independent of the video format. From SD AVI with MP3 to 1080p H265 AC3 5.1.

    What i tested so far:

    • Switching from LE11 Generic Legacy to LE 11 Generic.
    • Downgrading to LE10.
    • Complete new installation of LE Generic Legacy.
    • I tested it without the USB-Soundcard
    • I tested it with only the TV without CEC-Adapter
    • I tested it with only the 14" monitor.
    • I tested Audiooutput to Headphone, Tv and Monitor.
    • Almoust all gui settings regarding audio or video.
    • Increased Buffering to 4gb
    • changing cpu scaling governor to performance

I'm currently running the latest nightly of LE 11 Generic Legacy. The only addon i installed is the TVHeadend Client. Disabling it makes no difference.

    Some observions:

    • cpu usage of kodi.bin increases from ~32 to ~100 while audio stuttering. (using ssh and top)
    • I think the problem increased after refreshing the video libraries (MyVideo121.db: ~250mb)

    Any Ideas?

  • No ideas?

In the meantime I have tried the following:

    • Updated the BIOS and played with the settings -> no difference
    • Replacing the thermal paste for the CPU fan -> no difference
    • Installing LibreElec 9 -> no difference
    • Installing Windows 11 + Kodi -> The problem was even worse
    • Windows 11 + Kodi with VLC as external player worked fine. But is not a permanent solution
    • Tried other HDMI/DP cables

    Maybe a hardware defect?
