Automatic tether if no wifi network

  • Hi all, I am very new to libreelec/kodi, though I've been using Linux for a whole.

My first post here and I hope this is possible.

I am running libreelec 11 on an Intel nuc (celeron 2955U), connected to a dumb projector. Works fine at home or in the office.

However I'd like the following : if it can find a known wifi network and connect to it, great. If it can't, say in a minute or two, it should automatically enable tethering.

Is this possible? I am comfortable with the command line and Linux scripts.

Any help would be appreciated. Tia

  • It would be reasonably simple to enable/start tethering using "connmanctl" commands, and running something two minutes after boot would be simple enough using an autostart script or systemd service. The usual challenge with these types of things is what you check to determine "not connected to the right location" to then initiated the process.
