ESXi 6.7 LE 11 graphics card passthrough doesn't work

  • Hi folks,

I have been using LE along time but hasn't upgraded since version 9. The reason is that I could not get LE 10 working with my graphics cards passthrough to the LE VM. I am using a computer with VMware ESXi 6.7, latest update. This all works very good with LE 9, but since LE 10 and also LE 11 I can't get it to work any more.

The video output, after starting the VM, is black and after a minute or so it get's al scrambled, green red and some yellow. No bootup logo en kodi menu's. I can SSH into the VM, so it runs, only no output. I am using a AMD Radeon RX 550 with a Intel i3-8100 on a Gigabyte B360M-D3H motherboard.

If I boot the VM with a virtual VMware graphics card al works fine, but the output is ofcourse not on the TV. When I disable the virtual VMware graphics card there is no output at all.

So it is (still) working on LE9, but it doesn't work on LE10 or LE11.

some info from the LE11 VM:

    Code
    lspci -nnk

03:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Lexa PRO [Radeon 540/540X/550/550X / RX 540X/550/550X] [1002:699f] (rev c7)
    DeviceName: pciPassthru0
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Lexa PRO [Radeon 540/540X/550/550X / RX 540X/550/550X] [1043:0513]
    Kernel driver in use: amdgpu

I really would like to fix it because some of the add-ons stops working on LE 9.
