10.95.0 hangs on boot with manual upgrade

  • System was running 10.0.0.4, and worked well. Manually switched upgrade channel to 11 and applied 10.95.0, and it will no longer boot.

    Sysloader boots fine

error message: failed to initialize PTP_KVM

hangs at : LibreELEC (official): 10.95.0

System will reboot with a ctrl-alt-del

Let it sit for 10+ minutes, no joy.

    Hardware:

Lenovo Ideacentre Q150 Series 40814AU Desktop

    Intel Atom Processor 1.66GHz

    2GB SO-DIMM RAM

    250GB 5400RPM Hard Drive

    Nvidia ION GPU

Reinstalled via USB key - LibreELEC-Generic-legacy.x86_64-10.95.0

still get the boot message: failed to initialize PTP_KVM

Boots completes and Kodi runs fine.

  • Code
    echo "blacklist ptp_kvm" > /storage/.config/modprobe.d/ptp_kvm.conf

This might suppress the warning ^ .. otherwise (as you discovered) nVidia GPUs require the Generic-Legacy image.

  • Where and how do a I add this
    echo "blacklist ptp_kvm" > /storage/.config/modprobe.d/ptp_kvm.conf

  • nowe I got around the trying the command above, and it didn't work for me. I'll just live with the error. I believe it's occurring early in the boot process, due to the module being in the boot kernel. It would be a pain to update if I understand the process correctly. It's been a few years since I've rebuilt a kernel. To answer your question, The command can be run by turning on SSH under LibreElect, setting an SSH password, and then SSHing in to the system running LibreElect.
