Libreelec 19.4 not connecting once DNS are added

    Hi I have spent 6 weeks working with a VPN provider have now reached the stage of using LibreELEC with DNS numbers needing to be installed 19.3 checking kodi settings network with the DNS numbers added you get all the normal ip sub gateway and DNS wired connected I could not find a way to stop 19.3 upgrading to 19.4 and when it does that all data is missing from the network when you check and every thing I have tried does not solve the problem

    The DNS numbers are installed in static on the modem and 19.3 finds them as 19.4 will not

    I have joined this group that some one from LibreELEC will make contact (auto)

    You can disable auto-update (and manually downgrade to an earlier image with Kodi 19.3) in the LE settings add-on. I'm not aware of any major changes that would impact on networking. If you want assistance with VPN issues you'll need to provide some factual/technical info and logs that describe/demonstrates what and where the problem is - your unpuncutated rambling description isn't much of a clue, sorry.

    Hi thank you for your reply I started on the feb11th with surfshark all though I'v had 50 +years on computers it was editing for tv so VPN was a new ball came and I had got fed up trying to find help.........

    I'm using a raspb pi 4 and wanted to use it with LibrELEC surfshark people only seem to use windows and have not much knowledge of linux and non of LibreELEE

    so we got to the stage of entering the DNS into the modem this has worked with LibreELEC 19.3 picking up that the DNS is in the modem and on start Kodi checking system inf network

    the ip is 192.168.1.3 the Mask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.1 Primary DNS 162.252.172.57 2NDs 149.154.159.92 these are all correct now LibreELEC 19.4

    and Kodi system inf and you get link not connected

    MAC nothing IP nothing Mask nothing Gateway nothing Primary DNS 8.8.8.8 2nd DNS 8.8.4.4

    If I go in to LibreELEC and change the it to Manual

    ipv6 is turned off ipv4 ip 192.168.1.3 mask 255.255.255.0

    gateway 192.168.1.1 before changing the DNS #1 192.168.1.1 #2 0.0.0.0 Now we change it to #1 162.252.172.57 #2 149.154.159.92 and reboot the system and you are back to nothing as typed above

    I will add at this stage of testing I do not have any thing other then LibreELEC installed.

    I do have surfshark vpn working on a linux mint computer and Raspb pi 4 op system Thank you for coming back and If I ramble i'm not a programmer and trying to find where to join this forum and others for help is not easy when you have not done it before

    next day set up on a brand new card 19.3 changed ( updates to notify,but don't install updates ) / reboot and 19.3 still got updated to 19.4 /what did I miss >??????

    so reinstalled 19.3 this time I removed the internet cable / with no connection /primary DNS 8.8.8.0 2nd DNS 8.8.4.4 / rebooted with cable installed / kodi /settings/ system inf / mac :DC:A6:32:93:AE:f4 ip: 192.168.1.3 Mask 255.255.255.255.0 Gate 192.168.1.1 Prim DNS 192.168.1.1 Sec DNS 0.0.0.0 (notify,but don't install updates ) changed ipv4 to manual #1 0.0.0.0 #2 0.0.0.0 / info network returned PR DNS 8.8.8.8 2nd DNS 8.8.4.4 / added the server numbers to ipv4 DNS / remote commutator connection failed link not connected / I then changed ipv4 back to original setting dhcp and kodi LibreeLEC did not link back up to the internet / remote commutator connection failed

    link not connected / the only way I have found is to do a new install to get Libreelec kodi to reconnect to the internet!!!!

    ? are the posts on this site read by the builders of LibreELEC ?

    18April2022 have found that 19.4 keeps asking for items to be put into favorites over and over again after about 4 goes it will finally start and play the file ?
