Install Failure, "No irq handler for vector"

  • OK, first experience with LibreELEC, and first reaction is WTH?

Brand new build, Asus B55-i with 5700G

Reach the Boot: prompt, times out to installer and I get:

...._common_interrupt_: x.xx No irq handler for vector

I get like 5 of those and it locks up, boot failure.

Googling the error I get various theories as to cause (UEFI; BIOS; ASUS; Space Aliens, etc) most of the authoritative ones suggest booting with particular GRUB settings ( "pci=nomsi, noaer")

I've tried most everything to get to the grub prompt, no luck.

    What am I missing?

  • Any idea why this is happening?

Short of using another machine to mount and modify the stick, can I do anything from the "boot:" prompt.

BTW, debian shows the same error, then just moves on.

Tried Compatibility mode versus UEFI, no difference.

  • OK, got it to go, updated the bios to latest, and dropped back to 9.2 using Rufus.

10 Just hangs on the install (cursor blinks, right after boot prompt).

9.2 is no go, X.Org.service fails, and just loops. God I hate SystemD.

This is Ryzen 7 5700G, suspect it doesn't like the IGPU. Believe I could go in with 9.2 Live, but wary that would just peel back another layer of fault.

Punting, see if I can get Mint to fly.
