LE 10.0.0 RPi4 - random crashes while playing (starting) video files

hello,

I'm running LibreELEC-RPi4.arm-10.0.0.img.gz (Rpi4) and a lot of video files crash at start.

sometimes starting them again will work. sometimes a file, which didn't start before starts. sometimes files which worked before won't start.

this didn't happen (that frequently) while still running 9.97.1

.. but it also happens with other container files (e.g. other debug log: http://ix.io/3xrh (.mp4 file)

If kodi crashed then you should have a kodi_crash.log file.

Can you please upload that (after reproducing the issue)? Either run "pastecrash" via ssh or use the "upload crash log" function in LE settings.

i did "pastecrash" in shell, but it didn't give me any ix.io url...

Kodi crash logs should be found in the /storage/.kodi/temp folder so you can grab and try to put the file manually to pastebin.com to get the url link.

i guess the crash log was too big (~7mb). i deleted most of the same lines at the end, then i could upload it

Thanks for the log!

There's currently a bug playing VP8 videos, better avoid these files for now, they lead to kernel/firmware issues and you need to reboot the RPi to get it back into a proper working state. I've informed the RPi devs and hope we'll get a fix soon.

Concerning the H264 issue: could you please test with this build: LibreELEC-RPi4.arm-10.0-devel-20210901104638-c91d4d4.tar ?

This is our current libreelec-10.0 development version and it includes several fixes for video player crashes. The "V207 TS - AVC 1080p 24fps 8bit - AAC2.0.ts" file played fine with it here (tried starting it a couple of times).

i installed the dev-build. no (kodi) crashes so far and the V207 video plays without problems .

but unfortunately some h264 files still won't play (audio is ok, no video, can stop the video/no kodi crash)

ps: disabling drm prime decoder fixes the problem

10bit H264 files are a bit problematic ATM, there are several bits and pieces missing to handle them gracefully. As a workaround it's easiest to disable DRM PRME decoding (as you already found out) to play those files until the issues are resolved.

thx, i have same Problem and go back to 9.97.1 so far because i have much 4k Videos.
