How to fix Device Name (hostname) = Unknown showing in router GUI as my wifi device?

    I have two raspberry pi 3b with LibreELEC on each .

    LibreELEC is using the default System Name = LibreELEC

    and Kodi Settings > Services > General > Device Name = Kodi

    Now the problem is in my router GUI, it is showing

    this wifi device name = unknown-[MAC ADDRESS]
    e.g

    Device Name = Unknown-C1:35:E3:A5:11:5F

    If I change the names in LibreELEC and Kodi settings

    it still does not get updated in my router even after I tried turning off and back on the wifi connection in LibreELEC.
    I have also tried setting the IP Address manually and automatically (DHCP) but still nothing changes in the router.

    How can I fix this so that the router grabs the proper device name from LibreELEC?

    I would like to be able to easily identify which wifi devices is LibreELEC on my network by the device name as well as the IP and link speed etc.

    Proof:

    LibreELEC-beni:~ # echo "LibreELEC" > /storage/.cache/hostname

    LibreELEC-beni:~ # reboot

    ´´´

    After restart:

    ´´´

    LibreELEC (official): 8.2.5 (RPi2.arm)

    LibreELEC-beni:~ #

    ´´´



    So the name is still "LibreELEC-beni"... WTF??

    Change it in both /storage/.cache/hostname and /etc/hosts does also not solve my problem.
