Can I boot from 128gb USB stick, LE 9.2.6, RP3B+

Can I boot from 128gb USB stick, LE 9.2.6, RP3B+ and run off that as well, without the SD card?

I've read I can do it in Kodi, but it requires you putting the USB into host mode, and this is done by editing the /boot/config.txt file. As you know, there is no /boot folder in LE.

For clarity, I'm not trying to run off an external SSD drive, just a USB memory stick like this Samsung USB 128gb model:

The RPI3B+ supports USB booting, I'm not sure about the maximum drive/card/stick size.

Once you have booted LE 9.2.6 via an SDcard, the firmware will also be updated. So no need for config.txt editing.

So just write the image to the USB stick, and try and boot it.
