Very slow (additional) SMB Shares

  • Hi,

    I've followed this page (Sharing additional folders from LibreELEC via SMB [LibreELEC.wiki][]=share&s[]=smb) to hide and add some shares.

    After a short speed test i've seen that this shares are very slow (11MB/s). I've used exactly same hardware with another OS (openmediavault) and was able to run with 80MB/s in SMB shares.

    The drive is ext4 and i access the share with a Macbook. The config is like the sample / standard:

    [ShareName]

    path = /var/media/HDDNAME/Folder

    available = yes

    browseable = yes

    public = no

    writeable = yes

    Is there any way to get more speed in this shares?

    Best Regards

    Manuel

  • 11MB/s sounds like roughly a 100 Mb/s connection.

    So are you running LibreELEC on a Macbook?

    What is the external drive attached to?

    Libreelec is running on a x86 Intel system. The device is shown with a 1Gbit/s connection in my network.
    The drive is internal “WD Red” with 3TB connected to one of four SATA ports.

  • Kluojum! Thanks for your reply. After writing my answer i checked my network because i can follow your 100MBit idea. And you got the point!

    There was a switch / repeater connected with only 100MBit. Fixed the issue and now i can see good speed rates. Everything is fine!
