Netflix add on

  • Hello,

    I have a raspberry 3 with libreelec.

I installed CastagnaIT netflix addon 2 weeks ago

After disconnecting and reconnecting, I had videos in 720.

    Ok it's already a start.

And a few days later, I only have videos in SD while on my computer, I am in 1080 and 4K on a smarttv

So I disconnected my account and reconnected but nothing helped. I'm still in SD.

I left a message on the github but it was closed and I did not get a response.

I found nothing as information regarding this problem.

Do you have an idea or lead?

The parameters are basic. Everything is up to date with the latest version of Kodi and add-ons.

    Thanks for your help

  • Netflix changed things some time ago so Widevine L3 certs (which is what we use, we fake a browser) can only receive SD media. It might be that you found some test media that still allows HD, but as a rule everything else on their service is SD only, and L1 certified devices are the only ones that can receive HD and 4K media.

  • Hello,

    Thank you for your answer.

The problem appeared on Thursday evening.

The last time I used netflix was Monday.

Ok for your explanation. But with my Windows 10 computer with Kodi and the same add on, I have 1080.

These are the same versions of Kodi and the addon.

Do other people have this problem with a raspberry 3?

Do raspberry 4 also have this problem?

Thanks for your advice and help :)

  • The folks who maintain the Netflix add-on might have a more accurate explanation if you ask in the add-on support thread in the Kodi forums, but what I've told you is basically accurate and you will not see better than SD using any device running Kodi on a Linux OS; including an RPi4 because it's not about the device, it's about the OS environment.

  • I asked the question on the github but they did not answer me and closed my question.

I guess a lot of people are asking the same question but I haven't found a solution.

So it remains to wait for an update;)

Thank you for your answers and your help
