Crash when hopping along timebar or jumping to next chapter while playing video

  • What happens is that the movie freezes for about 10 seconds, then the screen goes dark and after some more seconds there is a reboot. This seems to happen only with some HD movies, I haven't noticed it yet with DVD quality movies. Other HD files play ok. Got the Kodi logfile : http://ix.io/2lnO

    System log: http://ix.io/2lo0

My knowledge of Libreelec is slim, so I hope somebody can point me in the right direction.

    Thanks.

  • Is your video using a Atmos / TrueHD audio stream by chance? If so, I'm experiencing the same issue on a Pi4. Chapter skipping results in a hard crash, 100% reproducible. If I change the audio track from TrueHD to AC3, chapter skipping works flawlessly, HD video or no. It seems to have to do with TrueHD audio decoding in my case, not video.

  • The first movie that I noticed having this problem is indeed using Atmos:

    Format : MLP FBA 16-ch

Format/Info : Meridian Lossless Packing FBA with 16-channel presentation

Commercial name : Dolby TrueHD with Dolby Atmos

    Codec ID : A_TRUEHD

Interesting, I will investigate this further, thanks for the info!

  • Well, TrueHD appears to be the problem here. I have tried several movies now and using the TrueHD track always causes a crash when skipping. Using the AC3 core doesn't cause any problems.

So either I don't skip anymore and wait for a fix or I move to AC3 for all TrueHD files.

    Thanks again cwadge!

  • Ok, I finally figured out that I haven't posted the correct logfile, here is a correct one (I think): hastebin

Reading the last part of the contents, there is indeed something fishy going on concerning TrueHD
