How to enable/install touchscreen (5" Waveshare HDMI LCD)?

Hi,

Yesterday I tried to install the driver for my touchscreen (5inch HDMI LCD - Waveshare Wiki) as documented here 5inch HDMI LCD - Waveshare Wiki but I soon discovered that this is impossible with a readonly filesystem which is probably also missing some neccessary components (e.g. apt).

The display works just fine (as a display) but I want to enable the touch functionality...

And ideas?

Wrong conception. Always search for compatible LE touchscreens first, before you buy. Yours isn't one of them, as your link says:

You can enable the touch in two ways: Method 1. install driver to your Raspbian/Ubuntu Mate OS. Method 2. use the Ready-to-use image file of which LCD driver was pre-installed.

You can try to install touchscreen addon from LE repozitory and enable waveshare config. Maybe it will work.
