RPI4 4K jitter

I have a 4GB rpi4, I've put the hdmi_enable_4k=1 into config.txt but it still runs very poorly with 4K material, it stutters and caches a lot.

I'm viewing it from my local NAS over gigbit ethernet. So I suspect its probably because my TV is actually 1080p so I'm expecting too much of the pi to not only decode the 4K but to downsample it to 1080p? Can anyone confirm this is?

Is the content you're playing 4k60? .. if not (and most "not a test file" 4k content in ciruclation is not) you can remove hdmi_enable_4k=1 and the Pi will still support up to 4k30 and will probably run better.
