For sometime I had Chrome browses add-in working on my system. Over the weekend I tried to open the browser, but nothing happened, no error messages, and no browser window. I un-installed the plugin and re-installed it. Now when I try to start Chrome, I get a noticed that it is downloading Chrome, which flashes several times. Still no browser window. What do I need to do to debug this issue?

Hi dschlic1, can you go in the chrome addon settings, and switch OFF the hardware acceleration ?
If chrome does start now, you most likely have an intel iGPU.
It looks like HW-acceleration for older intel graphics is broken in the newest mesa driver.

The whole addons is rather hacky due the nature of the whole thing.
I`ll try if I can update anything that makes the situation better, tbh no idea as the whole thing is a mess.
Hopefully K19 will finally includes a browser, then the whole problem is completely gone

if we can make LE start into the chrome browser by default, we have our own 'chromebook'
that runs on all hardware.
