Selection of WIFI band

  • how does one select it it normally ?

    some of the linux wifi drivers are pretty lame. I get constant drop outs with my netgear AC600 (A6100) AC usb stick

    it has had the same issue for about a year, if install windows it seems to act normal

  • muetzekoeln: You can install the network tools add-on which includes 'wireless_tools' and use iwconfig with an autostart.sh script to force changes to the wireless radio configuration after boot. It's hacky and I don't have a nicely typed guide for you to follow, but it can be done.

    Thanks for the hint. I tried it with iwconfig. Selecting by channel works. Selecting by Access Point address did not work.
    No option did offer to choose by wifi band.

    So, as long as the 5-GHz channel is not changing this is a work around. Still it is not a long term solution. Access Points
    sometimes change their channel usage. This maybe due to manual changes, setting to auto-channel or DFS acting.
