Intel Compute Stick STK1AW32SC

  • Hi, I've just joined this forum. I have a home Win 10/Kodi setup which generally works OK if you can wait for it to boot, and can sort it out when windows gets updated or something else breaks it.. I stumbled upon LibreELEC while I was searching for something to replace the Win 10/Kodi boxes with something more "solid" that would boot faster and my wife could live with more easily.

I found the WIKI advising how to install LE on various NUC devices -- including Intel Compute Stick STK1AW32SC. As I just happened to have a Compute Stick, I went ahead and installed LE

    .

Functionally it works well - I found the PVR client I needed and can access TV, and I can select the videos I want to watch on a HDD attached to a wifi router BUT the problem is the video is TOO SLOW and keeps stopping every few seconds for buffering,

My hope is that there is someone who has LE working on an Intel Compute Stick who can point to something stupid I have done, or not done.

  • BUT the problem is the video is TOO SLOW and keeps stopping every few seconds for buffering,

I don't think the "video is too slow", but you can check the Player Process Info if hardware video acceleration is applied.

It may be that the whole Wifi chip is less well supported in LibreELEC/Linux, and that data throughput is less than with Windows.

Differences in hardware support among operating systems is not uncommon.
