Kodi crashes to menu and not loading

  • Every decent (re)test starts with a clean basis. So please install a fresh copy of LibreELEC, forget about additional popular addons as well as AEON skins for a moment (because there are lots of skin errors in the log), and test your videos again. If the errors remain, send in a log file from the test situation.

Make a backup first of your current setup if you must.

  • I am back
Did a fresh installation of my Windows 10 "NAS" which i am using for the Samba Shares with NTFS drives.
Also a completeley fresh Libreelec Installation.
    So far so good.

I can share my drives, it will add the media in kodi with the Pi like a charm.

But at the moment i try to play sth. i will freeze and go back to the menu.
When i play the files directly it works fine, also via my notebook, even on my tablet it is working.
So they are not corrupt or something...

Here is the part of the log where the mass begins.
Think it is something with Windows 10 and samba..

-> failed to stat file smb (that's what i think is the main problem)

    Thanks for the help!

Seems that i have to go back to Kodi 14.2 until this will be fixed:

Windows 10 Fall update (1511) broke my SMB!!!

  • So, i finally solved the problem.
After searching for days and trying solutions and edits in my system and fresh installs of both Libreelec and Windows i found out, that Microsoft changed something in their Windows 10 1511 build.
Just search for "Windows 10 1511 Kodi" in google and you will find a lot of results.
Because i am a lucky student, i can install Windows Servers for free.
After installing everything is working as before.

I can only recommend to not use Windows 10 and share your drives with SMB if you use Kodi on your Pi, it is just horrible at the moment.
Use Windows 8.1 or 7 or something else.
I wish i could use some Linux system, but all my drives are NTFS formatted and i don't want to change that.
And NTFS on linux is something i really don't recommend.

Thanks for your help and keep this awesome project alive!
