cannot play video from media server

  • I ran OpenELEC 8.0.4 on pi2 and pi3. I now installed LibreELEC on the pi3 and while I can see my videos (UPnP off my home server) and select one,

it does not play. No problem on the pi2 on 8.0.4. I see this message in the log, which may be related:

    Code
WARNING: Playlist Player: ListItem type must be audio or video, use ListItem::setInfo to specify!

I did some searching and it looks like an old issue that was resolved, where items should default to 'video' if not explicitly specified.

I could not find a reference to it on this forum.

    How do I move forward?

BTW, 8.2.5 was unreliable for me (would hang randomly after playing for a while) so I stayed with 8.0.4.

    TIA

  • Sorry, but providing 1 single line from a total log file is not enough.

Please provide a full debug log.

How to post a log (wiki)

    1. Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging
    2. Restart Kodi
    3. Replicate the problem
    4. Generate a log URL (do not post/upload logs to the forum)

use "Settings > LibreELEC > System > Paste system logs" or run "pastekodi" over SSH, then post the URL link

    - OpenELEC is no longer relevant to us, it's been 2 years since its last release.

    - 8.2.5 unreliable?! If there is one rock stable device, it's the RPi. Random hangs could mean a shoddy SD card with read/write failures.

    - UPnP is not the first choice when playing video/music files off a media server. SMB and NFS are more dedicated file protocols

  • I now added to the original posting the full log of the system booting and attempting to show one video. HTH

Re 8.0.4/8.2.5: This is not really relevant to my current problem, but 8.2.5 was showing the same problem on both the RPi2 and RPi3, using different uSD cards. 8.0.4 exhibits none of these problems on either system.
