LibreELEC 9.0.0, Raspberry Pi 3b+: Could not connect to Kodi Add-on repository

  • SETUP

LibreELEC Version: 9.0.0 (from LibreELEC USB-SD Creator) - Fresh installation

    System: Raspberry Pi 3b+

    Power Supply: 5v 3A

Connection: LAN to WiFi router, no USB devices

    ISSUE

Tried to install YouTube video addon from Kodi Add-on repository.

An error message is displayed "Could not connect to repository"

    LOG FILE

    http://ix.io/1ajj

What I have tried so far

    - Updated WiFi router firmware

    - Restarted Modem and router

    - Same issue with Raspberry Pi 2, on USB WiFi dongle

    - Used different SD cards

    - No issue on LibreELEC 8.2.5 (fresh installation too)

Not sure if this is a known bug. Did a search in the forum, and found nothing is mentioned.

Appreciate if any help or advice to overcome this issue.

    Thank you.

  • I have the same issue and more:

    - could not update addons

    - could connect via ssh

WIFI is good and some other network services work (ssh does the initial handshake but stops with a "connection reset" message).

Tried soft and hard resets with no luck. Now I've got back to 8.2.5 and it is working again.

    Thanks.

Kodi uses geographic mirrors provided by volunteer third-parties to host add-ons. It looks like the one you're accessing is out of sync so the checksum doesn't match and Kodi cannot load the repo files. The problem should correct itself with time; either because a future request will be redirected to a different mirror (if there are multiple mirrors in your part of the world) or because the mirror will resync and have the right files again. If there's a single mirror that you consistently prefer (are redirected to) and it's wrong .. there's not much you can do. Plan B is to find a Kodi mirror and download the zip file for the addon and install it manually, although YouTube has external dependencies and you'll need all those too.
