Which hardware for good analog audio output?

  • Hello,

I'm new to LibreELEC and stumbling right at the beginning :shy:

Because of an lack of digital inputs at my amplifier, all audio signals in my TV/hifi setup must be analog (cinch (RCA connector) would be perfect).

So while I'm looking for new hardware to run LibreELEC, audio output got a priority. I'm looking for something with (semi-) good audio quality.

For both, Raspberry Pi 3 and Odroid C2 I could find addon hifi boards to add (HiFiBerry DAC+ / HiFi Shield).

Would this be a good way to go? Or should I look for some x86_64 hardware like Intel NUC?

I would be very grateful for any help and ideas.

    Regards,

    Frittenfett

For £10.57 (From HK) I don't think you can go wrong with Pi-Fi. I've got a Pi-Fi Digi and a Pi-Fi DAC (RPi1) - both work on LE. I'm not an audiophile but the sound is certainly better than the standard output.

There are probably better sound quality options available, it just depends on how much you want to spend.

Just search PIFI Digi DAC+ HIFI DAC in eBay. Make sure you get the 40 pin version.
