8.2.5 Failed to start Xorg Server on DELL optiplex 740

    First of all I should say I'm a fool in linux and I apologise if this question is too foolish or if this is not the appropriate place to ask.

    Anyway I'm setting up an old desktop I got from a relative to be a media center. I'm doing because it's awesome to repurpose the thing for that.

    I successfully made a bootable USB and got openELEC installed on the computer's hard disk, but when I'm booting from there I get this error saying

    Code
    [FAILED] Failed to start Xorg Server. See 'systemctl status xorg.service' for details.

    And also

    Code
    [DEPEND] Dependency failed for Fluxbox Window Manager

    though I have no idea if it has anything to do with it. The screen freezes and I'm not able to type or do anything

    I tried to run the proposed command via a boot in Gparted in Debian, which I happened to have on a Compact Disk, but without success. (Here I'm feeling like a fool). . ..

    I hope there is anybody to help me out or just a bit further to the core of the problem. If so, thanks a very lot!!

    A DELL Optiplex 740 apparently has 'prehistoric' onboard ATI X1300 / HD2400 / HD3450 video graphics. I'm not surprised you are getting the Failed to start Xorg Server error. LibreELEC can support only so much hardware. Perhaps if you have a discrete Nvidia card laying around, things would be different.
