Looking for hardware recommendation

  • Hi,

My old MSI AMD Hudson Kodi box is well past its sell-by date and is due for replacement. It's a dual core 1.6 GHz and can't decode 1920 FHD H265 or do 4K at all. I'm looking for a new Kodi box (or the parts to build one). I'm not sure whether to go for generic hardware and install Kodi or whether to go Android. I'd like it to turn on and open Kodi automatically. When I built my last box, the codec support was much better on Intel boards than ARM. Is that still true? My media lives on the network on a Synology NAS, don't need to store it on the appliance but having the database on the box is desirable.

My wants in a new box are:

    • Has HDMI
    • CEC nice but not essential
    • 4k capable
    • Plays H265
    • Audio passthrough to my AV receiver over HDMI
    • Wired Ethernet preferred
    • Has a remote
    • Can be turned on and off with the remote
    • Boots into Kodi automatically if possible.
    • Has at least one USB socket to connect my wireless keyboard.
    • Smaller footprint preferred

I would be grateful for any hardware recommendations you could make.

    Many thanks,

    Paul.

I personally think you are asking too much from the user base. Do your own research and if you find something that meets your requirements. then feel free to ask if it will work with LE
