Making libreelec display the way i want

    when viewing tv shows, etc. i prefer to have the titles shown is the WALL format. yet everytime i enter a tv show, it goes back to the LIST format. is there a way to set it to the wall format and have it stay that way?

    I guess it depends on the Skin used. I use Confluence and have List, Big List, Thumbnail, Poster Wrap, Fan Art & Media Info 1/2/3. It remembers my setting.

    It's probably a shutdown problem. We wait patiently for Kodi to stop gracefully, but there's a timer running and if we time-out Kodi is killed and the system stopped. Kodi saves guisettings.xml on shutdown so if we have to kill the Kodi process you can get partially written xml, and on startup the malformed/incomplete xml is detected and replaced with default settings; hence the appearance of settings reverting or being lost. Add-ons are the main cause of delays to shutdown. Another possible reason is you're looking a media via an add-on, in which case it's the add-on authors responsibility to support persistent view states. I have a couple of legitimate add-ons that don't.

    no change.

    the display still reverts to the default of LIST after any change or opening any tv show folder.

    none of the display settings seems to be stored

    Are you browsing via "Videos" which is a file listing view (which defaults to LIST) or using the Movies/TVshows "library" views which allows most skins to store a persistent view state that you choose? .. I'm (re)guessing the former. If yes, please go read the Kodi wiki sections on how to scrape your media to a library.

    bluerib: i doubt it, because i am only having this issue with librelec. openelec i dont have this issue, but it is not supported any longer. so i guess i have to decide if i want something that works, or something that doesnt.

    chewitt: no i am browsing via the TV SHOWS tab. I am aware that viewing through the VIDEOS tab it defaults to list. I am viewing through the tv shows (library), and the tv shows are all current (based on what i have stored on my server). i just cant get the library tab to stay the way i want... displayed in WALL.
