I finished trying all of the dtb files and they all produce the same result: the device stays on the android-minix boot logo
I contacted minix and asked for the latest firmware img for the minix 8 and they sent me it:
I don't know if that helps or not but I thought that it might be useful
EDIT: I managed to dump some dtb files from the image. Again, I don't know if it helps but if it does than I can put a download link to them

extract from the firmware : dt
let me know
Still nothing
just to make sure:
1) I replaced the dtb.img file on the sdcard with the new one you gave me (and changed the file name from dt.img to dtb.img)
2) did the name change for boot.scr
3) booted the device without holding the reset button
Did I have to do something with the the dtb file inside the device_trees folder on the sd?

thanks for your return.

ps: you're not wrong

Yes boot from SD.
Using your version libreelec 8.2 as main driver. Lan ok, wifi ok and passthrough I don't know what is :D. For me all is working good
Previous 2 versions install to internal doesn't boot.(something about unsuccesfull mount). This last one I have not tryed.

to boot from internal with the libreelec 8.9.x, you need to repatch the android bootloader. (you will still be able to boot the 8.2 from SD if needed)
The 8.2 is the most stable.
The 8.9.x uses the latest kodi version (beta) which may give troubles if your tv doesn't support 24hz.
-
So did I do something wrong than?
maybe not.
got the same crazy things with the X8-HP.
I had to maintain 2 LE8.2 versions for the X8-HP with slightly different dtb file. (was using a kszaq linux)
Now with the offcial LE linux, it's gone .It's not anymore needed to maintain 2 versions.
Seems that we face the same issue with the X8.
Like all the X8 have not been manufactured the same way (meaning shares exactly the same components)
can you try to boot from USB?
using the LE8.9.x with default dtb.img

Repatch bootloader you mean boot with the clip in the hole?
The only trouble I found with 8.9.x and this is not acceptable is often minix hang with black screen when I stop a video.
I think boot to internal a good way to have stable version and opportunity to test new versions without have to use many SD cards

will do, should I use a specific usb port or do both of them work for booting?
