Change LibreElec Partition Size

When I created one of my current LibreElec Kodi Pis, I took an image of the sd card which is 8GB. I've just invested in another for a different room, and as time has moved on the new microsd card that I have is 16GB. I would like to use the preconfigured 8GB image. If I write the 8GB image to the 16GB card, can I expand the partition in LibreElec or can I simply expand the main partition using a partition editor?

The easiest way is to use a disk manager like gparted to expand the partition to fill the unused space.

Or install LibreELEC fresh onto the 16GB card, let it auto-resize the /storage partition on the first boot, and restore a backup onto the 16GB card made from the 8GB card.
