Hi,
I use hdparm command (in autostart.sh) in LE on Raspberry Pi3 to spin-down USB drives.
Is there a way to do this with LibreElec on (S905W/S912) Android TV Box?

Did You try it ?
LE(amlogic) could handle autostart.sh and hdparm command
Is your Hdd a very old one?Mine spin down on their own...not sure if it's due to hdparm enabled by default on LE but don't think so...most modern hdd's should do so..

No. Asking for a friend since I don't own one. I guess that it should work, as it's a Linux command, so he will try it.

AFAIK, only 2.5" USB HDD enclosures that have this command in their conntroller can spin-down HDD on Android. I think that there is no way Android OS can do that as Linux/Windows can. But this is another topic...

What I mean is that most modern Hdd's put themselves to sleep regarding the OS..Actually Hdparm is slowly falling into obsolescence for this reason..
Also, most modern HDDs come with a utility in which sleep can be turned on/off, and set time when to enter sleep mode...
