I was making changes to
/etc/grub.d/40_custom for boot entries
/etc/default/grub for other settings
I certainly wouldn't be opposed to a better way of doing things if there is one!

/boot/grub/custom.cfg can be used instead of (or in combination with) /etc/grub.d/40_custom with the advantage no update-grub is needed after editing.
Hello, I have a similar problem. Could you solve your problem?
I suspect it has to do with EFI and the GPT partitions.
I was able to get it all up and running and I would hate to do it again. I've got win10, ubuntu and LE running together, I just had to change the order that I was doing things and manually install LE at the end. Windows first, then Ubuntu, then LE manually
When you say manually install librelec at the end ... Do you mean copy the kernel and the system files over to the partitions you made for boot and data or burn librelec to a usb stick, boot librelec from usb and install it to your pre made partition?
