Is there a way modify this to download the temp_sensor_disable version as an option or instead of the standard version. One of my Amlogic boxes occasionally fails to boot on the standard version.
Yieeaah already thought of that - just add -notemp to your custom channel url (ie http://localhost:8083/s905-notemp)
The darker picture is a known bug with Marshmallow kernel but that minor problem is only immediately after boot up and disappears just as soon as you run a video stream
If you enable the startup animation, you effectively run a video stream prior to starting the GUI and so don't notice a darker picture at all
8.0.2b posted in OP.
Many Thanks kszaq
Hi is this build 8.0.2b still using the MM kernel?
8.0.2b build uploaded for testing. It is still using MM kernel. Anyone who wants to try Nougat kernel should try out builds from johngalt - he's doing a great job with 10bit + HDR improvements!
Is there a command the equivalent of ""installtoexternal" ?
The reason I ask is that I keep a microsd card with the last version, but I don't keep it up to date, & if the NAND gets corrupted, I have an old backup.
make an LE backup of the device with NAND install to an external backup folder (or move/copy the backup once it is made), then . . .
. . . restore the LE backup while running the external version of LE.
I have tried the backup kodi addon, but it seems to take ages & when I have had to use it, it fails.
Don't use the kodi addon use the backup built into the LE configuration addon (It never fails)
my suggestion, after installing to nand on first box, do all your needed changes then do a backup via libreelec settings. then restore that backup on the 2 boxes.
Yep, do that or use TWRP to clone the whole box. To create your TWRP backup you'll need a copy of TWRP recovery.img (suitable for your particular device) and the original (Android FW) dtb.img on an SD card then use toothpick reboot or SSH to your box and issue the command reboot recovery.
That means I still have to install libre welcome first. I want a copy of the NAND that I can boot from a USB and then do copy to NAND.
Using TWRP will accomplish this or make an LE backup of the device with NAND install to an external backup folder (or move/copy the backup once it is made), then make a new SD install of LE (or use the original SDcard/USB stick that you issued the installtonand command with) and restore the LE backup while running the external version of LE. You can then use that SD/USB to clone your other, identical boxes
I see there are a couple ways to upgrade including using the LibreElec Settings "Upgrade" Auto vs. Manual, with the Upgrade Chanels....
There is no Auto update currently available for these builds. Only manual update via LE configuration or manual update via the kodi update folder.
is it possible to make a fresh install after install to NAND ? Is it possible to use the same process (create a SD, boot on it and launch installtointernal) ?
Not only possible but the preferred way to install to NAND
With the Latest 8.0.1k i've got glitches in Bootscreen / menu /Video
Now I'm back on 8.0.1j everything run smooth
A wise man once said "Don't fix it until it's broke".
If "everything run smooth" on 8.0.1j, enjoy watching your movies without problems and let those that do have issues continue their search for a perfect setup with the later (minor) updates.
waiting for replys
You had one that suggested you actually try them yourself. Not interested in that idea?

If i put any of your trees it wont boot onto LE. But if i let it stay by default Tree i get boot onto LE.
Having tried all the dtb's yourself, without success, indicates that the issue is NOT to do with the device tree.
Perhaps you should upload your logs for kszaq to take a look at
I'm trying to set up the auto update but cant seem to find the address needed to input in the settings . . .
There is no auto update implemented yet for these builds.
What appears to be, perhaps, something that might eventually evolve into auto-update can be found at this thread , in particular here but, at present, available builds still must be checked / installed manually from the LE configuration page
might be busy with compiling the other versions as we speak
Hopefully - don't fancy turning off temp sensors unnecessarily
I burned just the image onto sd without copying the dtb.img. Now it works and stable but no wifi.
Presuming you have WiFi enabled and Ethernet disabled in LE configuration, start trying it with other dtb.img files and find the one that is correct for your box
I guess being only a quad core it isn't a 905 but a 805?
There are quad core 905/905X boxes, you know
When I change sdcard from LE8 to LE7 sd, the same device play the same movie from the same source without problem
What part of this is so hard to understand?
Do not compare Krypton to Jarvis. Kodi Krypton has a very different approach to Video decoding that stresses CPU more.
The 7.0.3.12j was perfect.
If you already have a perfect build at your fingertips, what are you hoping will improve?
Of Course
Thanks
Without it, you still need to manually check if an update is available.
Sadly, with this addon we still need to do this - but very promising as, between the two of these advancements, I'm sure we're not too far off a complete auto-update
Very polished, but not exactly what I had in mind (as you still have to manually update a file each update to trigger the addon to alert you that there is a FW update).
Thanks for this excellent example though.
Is it OK if I hack it about and try and make it simply look at the updates url and announce if one is available? Perhaps the update button could then open the LE available updates window.
I'm no programmer, but I can often come up with something if I have a working example to mutilate
Why did you want that?
Without it, you still need to manually check if an update is available.
Not taking anything away from the advancement achieved by this custom channel , of course.
I Have an addon that you can set a notification to tell your family that there is an update for their box??
Are you able to share that addon? Sounds like the 'icing on the cake'
