Any chance to force a VPN reconnect after standby? Everytime after wake up from standby I have to reboot to establish a VPN connection otherwise I have no connection to the internet nor do I have a VPN connection.

At this point in the year I would definately wait for Gemini Lake (Apollo Lake successor) which will come with a proper native HDMI 2.0 port instead of the dreaded third party DisplayPort to HDMI converter chip on Apollo Lake based boards.

An option could also be that you build yourself a NAS (TVHeadend Server) using an ASRock J3455 as a basis like in the provided example below running Openmediavault/TVHeadend with the attached DVB-T2 Stick and let the NAS deliver a transcoded stream to your existing RPi (Client) running LibreELEC/Kodi. The ASRock J3455 should be powerful enough to do the HEVC transcoding and the idle power consumption of Apollo Lake is pretty reasonable.

I am considering a similar solution perspectively. Currently I am using a HTPC based on an ASRock J4205 Mainboard to watch DVB-T2 in Germany which is working flawless except for CEC which is supported only in a limited way by the platform compared to the full CEC support by a RPi. I am using a DVBSky T982 V2 PCIe TV adapter to decode DVB-T2 which is working out of the box under linux. It has 2 tuners so that you can watch and record another channel at the same time.

I have the same issue! I have a 4k TV but I set the resolution in Kodi manually to 1080p@50hz and after every reboot the resolution defaults to 4k@30hz. Iam on LE 8.0.2 running an Apollo Lake CPU/GPU.

It seems that after an automatic update off the vpn manager, the add-on is not able to reconnect with the primary vpn gateway. I am using vpn.ac as my vpn provider.
After the recent update I was disconnected and it seems that the add-on was not able to reconnect by itself. Apart from this incident the add-on works very reliable for me in combination with vpn.ac.
Whats the point of the other thread? I just posted there by incident...

Whats the point of this thread? I just posted here by incident because i thought this is the main vpn manager thread.

It's not that urgent! If the sytem is under load while watching tv or a movie it rarely crashes. It crashes more often while the system is idling.
I will simply wait for a regulard update of LE with a more recent kernel to see if that solves the issue.

It depends on the Kodi v18 schedule. If Kodi decide to do a shorter sprint for v18 that results in an autumn-ish release then your 4.11+ fix will arrive in the next series of alpha/beta builds as we move towards that release. If it looks like v18 will run longer (end of year-ish) then we'll organise a mid-year 8.2 release with a newer kernel/mesa to pick up improved Intel hardware support, and we'll probably throw in a switch back to openssl for some bonus credit. So nothing firm yet, but we have Kodi DevCon over the next few days and that might firm ideas. Thanks for clarification! Btw. thumbs up for your effort making LE such a great product.

Can we expect Linux Kernel 4.11 also for LE 8.x.x at some point? I care about this because i expect 4.11 to fix one major issue in conjunction with Apollo Lake based systems which are basically random crashes/restarts of Kodi.

Hey guys,
i am using LE 8.0.1 on an Apollo Lake basis (ASRock J4205-ITX) and i am experiencing the random crashes/restarts of Kodi (just Kodi and not the whole LE OS) as mentioned in this thread:
I narrowed the issue down to the Intel GPU drivers. Therefore my question if and how is it possible to upgrade to the most recent Linux Kernel 4.11 because i am assuming that it could potentially fix the random Kodi restarts on Apollo Lake. Is it easy to do? If so how?
Thank you very much guys for any support on this topic!

On what hardware are you guys experiencing the random restarts of Kodi? I am on an Apollo Lake CPU (ASRock J4205-ITX) and i am quite sure that it has to do with the Intel GPU drivers and that it can be only fixed with a newer Linux Kernel:

Since you have an Apollo Lake CPU in your NUC and the same DisplayPort to HDMI converter chip as iam having on my ASRock J4205 ITX mainboard, it makes sense for you to follow this thread here:
There is also a firmware update available for the DisplayPort to HDMI converter chip that solves some potential issues and that may be of interest to you:
Download HDMI 2.0 Firmware Update Tool for Intel® NUC Kit NUC7i3BN, NUC7i5BN, NUC7i7BN, NUC6CAY
Still there are some things left that need fixing on all ends before everything is going to work as expected.

Thank you very much for the add-on! It works perfect on my LE 8.0.1 setup.

There is an issue with decoding AAC 5.1 on the newly launched DVB-T2 here in Germany using LE 8.0.1. The whole issue is being described/discussed here (sadly in german):
DVB-T2 schlechter Ton nur auf arte - Einsteigerfragen DVBViewer Pro/GE - DVBViewer community forumIn a nutshell you hear droputs while decoding AAC 5.1.
Good news is that it got fixed by a LAV Filter developer in the meantime:

Thanks!

Just wanted to provide a logfile because the random Kodi restarts are still happening on LE 8.0.1log-2017-03-30-07.15.34.zip

Der Stick funktioniert unter Linux ab Kernel 3.19 out of the box: Geniatech T230 - LinuxTVWiki
Ich habe mir zwei August DVB-T210 V2 Sticks bei eBay gekauft. Bei den August immer darauf achten das es die V2 sind. Die älteren sind nicht kompatibel mit DVB-T2 in Deutschland.

The same happens to me with final LE 8.
