Personally I don't see a point in x86 for a Kodi client anymore. I migrated from an Asrock J4205 to a RPi 3 a year ago and more towards a client/server setup. I turned the J4205 into a NAS (OMV) running Tvheadend and everything else while the RPi "just" does the streaming to the TV through Kodi. Currently waiting for the drivers for the RPi 4 to get more mature to replace the RPi 3 with the 4.

At some point I was in a similar situation. I was running LE and Tvheadend server on a J4205 and considered it not being the best solution for Kodi. I turned the J4205 into a NAS (openmediavault) including a Tvheadend server and turned a raspberry 3 into my new Kodi client. Thinking of moving to a RPi4 once the drivers get more mature.
Turning your G4400 into a NAS and getting something lightweight for Kodi makes total sense imo. No need for for the J5005 except you want to upgrade the G4400 at some point. The J5005 is a great NAS platform.

I am waiting for a new hardware revision of the 4 and that the software matures a bit more. Then I will pull the trigger.

Hi Da Flex.
Thx for your reply. So if I read it correct, the Intel NUC is the best choice. What model would you recommend so I can run 4K without any problem?
Thank you.
Intel NUC Kit NUC7PJYH will do everything you need.

Great release! It seems that this release needs less CPU power to decode HEVC on the Raspberry Pi 3b+ compared to LE 9.0. While streaming german DVB-T2 (HEVC) the Raspberry 3 was usually maxed out. Now it seems to need somewhat less CPU power for the same task.

Thanks for the prompt reply, Klojum. Makes sense, lightning symbol and all. Would never have thought so because I sent for the complete package from Amazon just so as I would get the proper PSU with it. Ah well, live and learn!
I bought the exact same set and I also suffered from the same issues with the power adapter. I recently bought the official Raspberry Pi adapter and the yellow bolt icon is gone. Now I need to fix the temperature issues because my Raspberry Pi is running hot while watching live TV.

LE only crashes while idling in my case. Usually never when under "load".

Same here and independent of platform. I boiled it down to the Tvheadend HTSP Client plugin that crashes Kodi on a regular basis.

This is the proper repository to install from: repository.castagnait-1.0.0.zip
The asciidisco one was abandoned some time ago. In this thread you will always find the most recent information/status regarding the Netflix plugin: Netflix Add-on [input-stream]

Pi4 doesn't do 4k h.264
It does not need to because 4k is usually HEVC (H.265) encoded.

Given today's surprising release of the Raspberry Pi 4B I would totally go with it:
LibreELEC (Leia) 9.2 ALPHA1 with Raspberry Pi 4B Support – LibreELEC

If HDR is not a requirement and budget is not very tight I would always choose a NUC.

Has anyone got Netflix working on libreelec at the moment?
It used to work fine for me but I haven’t been able to find a working configuration for ages.
I’m running libreelec 9.0.2 on an asus chromebox and am trying all manner of different Netflix builds but nothing is working.
Anyone know?
The version from this repository is the most current one and works for me without any issues: repository.castagnait-1.0.0.zip

Timeshift works fllawless in conjunction with Tvheadend for me. But for me it already did work using LE 8.

I can't play DVB-T2 (Tvheadend) recordings with Dolby audio since LE 9.0 (Generic). I can play the recordings fine using any other player on any other platform. It's a bug that got introduced with LE 9.0/Kodi 18. Watching live TV with Dolby audio works fine though. It's just the recordings that do not work anymore. Using fresh install of LE 9.0.2 Generic on ASRock J4205
Exemplary recording from German public TV that cannot be played back anymore using current LE/Kodi: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1h1f2qcktkkvqabg6tiz1oad7shw57cos

Under "Stream profile" on the right you simply select "matroska"

This problem btw. still exists with fresh install of LE 9. Just leave Kodi running for several hours/days with TV menu selected. Fresh install of LE 9 generic with TVheadend client/server running on same machine.
