I just installed LibreELEC on my brand new RbPI 4 4G, and the interface is extremely slow.
Check the temperature, is the RPi4 in a fully closed casing?
Have you already installed the RPI4 firmware update(s)?

tail -f ~/.kodi/temp/kodi.log
No cut off log files here. We need all possible information, and certainly the machine info in the beginning.
The magic remote for my LG TV only does CEC things, there is no mouse functionality, which is understandable really. I don't think CEC ever supported mouse movements.
"More power" in a RPi4 compared to J5005? I think not. Also what sort of "power" are you referring to? Videos won't be displayed any faster.
Intel announced HDR support for certain chipsets including Gemini Lake, but only those with a lspcon onboard..
HDR in Kodi is still a work-in-progess.
"RPi4 should be better than J5005"
In what way?
Such buffering for local video files should not be necessary anyway, especially on a gigabit connection. Perhaps your SMB server is having network hiccups?
I also saw some UPnP stuff in the log, do you really need UPnP? Disable it if that is not the case.
Sometimes our own tools hasa hiccup. It's not sure why.
There are other tools you can try for writing a disk image onto an SDcard or USB stick.
Such as Raspberry Pi's own imager tool, or Rufus.
I've a problem with SOME HEVC h265 video. The video appears very noisy with many artifacts, in some cases it stutters..
If those videos are HDR videos, then it's possible that (major) hiccups occur. The RPi4 is not 100% compliant just yet for those types of video.
A good HDMI 1.4 cable should still work at 4K30fps. But the RPI4B can be quite picky, so using a different cable is a first step.
I can hardly make/see of what is displayed on that screen. How about lowering the brightness/contrast next time when taking a screenshot?
I currently have Raspbian Buster running Kodi 18.5 without a problem. Kodi can also autostart when Raspbian is booted (do a bit of Googling on that). Perhaps it all takes a few more seconds to start up, but after that, the RPi4 is running 24/7, and playing hevc videos if necessary.
Kodi 18.5 is available via the Buster default repository, so installing it is not a major problem. They are just a little late with updating to 18.6.
Uhmm.. That is a the Linux journal log, not the log I was hoping for.
Kodi has its own log. Perhaps you can have another look at the wiki url I gave you.
When you view a video to the end, Kodi should mark it watched when the end is reached.
Try capturing that in Kodi's log file.
For me "mark as watched" worked before when a movie or episode was watched.
Why would you have to use "Mark as watched" when a video was (already) watched?
Perhaps start with providing a debug log.
Can you disable the HDMI audio in the BIOS/UEFI?
First, there is 9.2.2 for Generic for some audio settings. Not sure if it includes your setting problem.
I take it the USB audio dongle is always inserted before you (re)boot your LibreELEC box?
Try to get us dmesg listings of both situations with USB not-working and working.
Am I the only one having video playback problems
This here is the news section. If you want to report a problem, please create your own thread in the appropriate forum section.
Plenty of weird error stuff is going on there...
I'd say do a full re-install of LibreELEC 9.2.2, and forget about skins and other add-ons.
Enable debugging and restart LibreELEC.
Then play one of your (problem) videos, and provide a new log file.
You could also run a DIMM memory checker, just in case. Any Ubuntu Live distro should have one of those on board.
There is likely a bug in the thumbnail processing of pictures, something that already existed in earlier RPi3 releases as well. And something that hasn't been able to fix just yet.
Or is it crashing on already thumbed pictures/photos? If so, can you provide a sample or two of them?
Generic 9.2.2 is out now.
The simple way for me to upgrade is via SSH'ing into the Kodi device, and then:
- cd .update
- wget LibreELEC-Generic.x86_64-9.2.2.tar
- reboot
Which add-ons specifically? Because I don't know any add-ons that cause reboots.
